In a church I went to, every volunteer had to pAss police check. It was free or paid by church. Anyone who is baptised or an UBM or in the TMS should have to under the proposed scheme. Yay! -

Welcome. Lots of good advice. Confirm for yourself that you dont actually believe it (or you might be running back later). After you are out, dont obsess on this or any religion. Be a good human being in the world, educate yourself all around, treat parents well and keep yourself safe from crazy attempts to find perfect religion. Religions arent good or bad-people are. Be one of the good guys -

Heaven, you are right. Pastors are held accountable by the congregations that appoint and or pay them. These men were in a submissive relationship to the org and controls the congregations. They aren't accountable in any way to anyone sitting in those kingdom hall's. -

I had requested them to put shepherding concerns in writing.
by quincemyles inlast week, i had requested the elders to put their shepherding concerns in writing and that only one elder visits me because i am uncomfortable with two.
well, today they approached me and said we are not able to write to you and we are going to see you the two of us.
i felt how inconsiderate and disrespectful of individuals the watchtower machinery is.

So, wow. You are still a jw? Why? Do you think they will ever have adequate answers?
Great post, btw!

Another one decides to leave
by problemaddict 2 inwell in a month where i had a friend of 20 years tell me "we can't kick it no mo" because i no longer go to meetings, i had an even older friend who is coming to visit me, call me and tell me hes out.. currently a high profile ms who gives talks out all over the place, the elders said they are recommending him for appt to the body in sep when the co is coming through.
but nope......hes about to step down all together.. what did it?
because i am not disfellowshipped, and soft peddle my issues with the org, i was able to speak to him about things like blood, and a couple other things.

Thanks for the happy news. Its a shame they are so scared off of other churches. I have been to some "well balanced" churches that were less about arguing doctrines and proof texting and end of the worlding as they were about following Jesus and being good in the world. I like that kind of church and I like those kind of people. They love God, but they aren't getting hung up on what is basically theories about unprovable details. Heck, God is unprovable enough, trying to prove things about the unprovable is really insane! -

Arrests can sometimes be found on those online find a person websites, but you need the higher priced memberships to get anything useful out of them. -

Us govt Sex Offender registry.
I would like to mention that I know of two sex offenders who have been sentenced and who are NOT listed on the state or national registry, so they are not comprehensive as we would like them to be. I am going to check on Monday to see what that's all about, but there may be other records that would be useful elsewhere.

What about checking other states that he has lived in-like CA? Everywhere in between. I think if you know a victim, you should share with them what Conti went through when realizing that that man could have been stopped from abusing her or the people that came after her had anyone done their ethical job right. Ask the victim how many victims they want to answer to Jehovah about? Ask them how it affected their faith and ask if it stumbled them. . . do they want to have been one that helped to stumble another brother or sister? Seriously. Use their own verbiage and her own innate morality to appeal to her. Being a good citizen of the world may not matter, but what about other little kids in the hall? -

DD, you are absolutely right. OTHERWISE, they would have to go to jail rather than report at all, mandatory, even. Bible principles are not keeping them from reporting, JW mandates are keeping them from reporting.
In this way we can see that the "confidentiality" reqirement is not only bogus as applied to JWs legally, it is bogus as it applies to JWs 'spiritually', as we all already know. They just make up crap as it suits them.

Discussing the RC with a friend and my JW wife was listening.
by Driving Force ini am fuming at the moment and my wife has made me so angry.. i live in germany and an ex jw, a friend of mine is also ex jw but does not understand english so i was giving him a rundown on the friday session of the rc with gj.
my wife was in another part of the house but heard my phone ring and so she came to listen, i did not realize this, because when the phone rang i closed two doors between myself and my wife.
she opened the first door and started listening to the conversation.

I'm sorry for what you and daughter are going through. I've played nice for too many years and have become so walked over that I should tattoo welcome on my forehead. I'm done. Don't let her continue to abuse you and daughter over this. I encourage going forward to end things. Not sure of your congregational status, but clarifying your ideas with elders might put a fire under wife to initiate a divorce. She seems rather unhinged. Let her believe it's all her idea unless you are trying to hold it together until daughter reaches majority.
