Little children deserve to die at Armageddon

for the life of me, i cannot work this one out.

it disturbed me when i was a jw and it now just makes me plain angry.. here are some comments from ministerial servants & elders on this subject, which i heard when i was in:.

"you know, a while ago, people used to object to the idea of children dying at armageddon but nowadays there is a spirit in kids (massive generalisation), which just seems to make them fit for destruction.

I am not sure of their teaching on the subject, but just think, if all those living on earth children can be killed because they were being raised by non-JW parents (who may be perfectly nice god fearing Baptists or what have you) how much MORE evil and deserving to not be resurrected are the children of parents who are EVIL enough to kill them in utero. They were doomed to be devils, right? UGH, religion is a sick thing sometimes!

This is why I decided that the God of the Bible is not the one I know or understand. I don't fully understand any of it, and I don't need to. I do know that that messed up idea of God was a reflection of men who are twisted, and not a perfect and loving creator. Therefore, the Bible God has no authority over me or my life or my children.

Thanks for the comments. I didn't want to talk to my mom about it until I had some idea of what I and she may be dealing with and facing.

Congratulations are due to those of you who are overcoming the problem. I have so many food issues, I just consider myself lucky that I feel ill after a sip-with my family history, I would otherwise have the same issues as my mom with alcohol. I love this group. You are all like having a super diverse and wonderfully warm family that will tease you and be angry sometimes and still at the end of the day, care about you. Blessings to you all.

My cousins leukemia and treatment.

ok, tonight i found out a family secret that only a few knew.

i had told my mom how i felt about the jw stance on blood, and mentioned how angry i was not knowing if my cousin could have been saved had he gotten a blood transfusion.

she finally told me tonight, when we were going to a seminar about lung cancer, that my cousin had indeed gotten a blood transfusion!

Well, turns out the hospital got a court order. He still did not live-I don't know if it was too late or if there was no hope (most likely, I'm afraid to say).

I am mad that they HAD to get the court order. WHY would anyone need to force you to get care for your child????? I don't know if they would have secretly wanted it, or covertly encouraged the doctor/hospital to do it, but God almighty-how nuts is it-either way? Is it just me or are they crazy?

This is currently my major objection to the religion. Its insane.

What faithful JW's do you pity the most?

many of us have family in the borg, we are anxious to get them out, .

we might be very angry with the borg.. but who among the jw do you really just pity?

is it elders, pioneers, retired folks w/o decent retirement?.

I understand your perspectives on the most 'pitiful' JWs. Ultimately, they were all children to start with-the ones who are SO indoctrinated that they can't separate their faith that there is a God from their religious upbringing-because they are taught that any other religion is not only not the 'best' religion, but that any other thought process even is disloyal to Jehovah God. Did any of you know incredibly brilliant JW's? I knew a couple of standout intellects. I am not so glaringly bright or anything, but there is a huge disconnect between what your heart wants believe and what your head is telling you. Unfortunately they are so inculcated with the fact that there is no 'truth' outside of the organization that they feel guilty for even thinking about looking outside of the org. In fact, just looking carefully at the org. is considered disloyal. That is enough dilemma for those of normal intellect. But there are those you know could be physicists or brain surgeons-and they had been taught that to aspire to such things is just plain WRONG. To consider a career in journalism or politics or law-too worldly. Too many conflicts with their 'faith'. Yes, it is hard being a child in the org-but little children are too innocent and naive to know how much they are missing out on. The brilliant and too blindly loyal former JW child is in a trap that is incredibly difficult to extricate themselves from. I have met a few, but I know a few that are still in-and I don't know how they can even sleep at night.

JW teenage pregnancies...............did you know of any ?

i was in the borg for 20 of my adult years and i must say that in all that time i only knew of one sister who got pregnant before she was married.

she was given a public reproof and was never treated badly.. considering a lot of the teenagers did most things they shouldnt have and many did get reproved for immorality, i am surprised that many didnt get pregnant.

especially as they would of likely not have been taking contraception.. was this common in you kh or area?.

I must have been in the most unpromiscuous congregation. I know of one guy who was disfellowshipped (later re-instated) for sexual immorality. One JW girl who got preg by a LDS boy(!)-they married. One young woman who had a baby and was disfellowshipped, but was re-instated soon after baby was actually born and then pioneered while raising him and living with her mom. THey were both over the moon about that baby-he was a gift. I don't think she ever apologised or made excuses to ANYONE about being an unmarried mom-she dealt with the elders on their terms, but the rest of them were totally on HER terms. I admired her attitude a great deal. She held her head high and her child proudly. Most of the ones I knew married young and badly.

anybody remember this favorite witness concept?

the mosaic laws were basically perfect, the theory goes.

one evidence of this perfection was the fact that the hygenic requirements harmonize with current science, were obviously better than what everyone else at the time was practicing, and resulted in great health benefits for the israelites.

Weren't those hygiene rules used by all observant jews of the time though? What is so especially disgusting about the essenes that isn't true of people who lived in other parts of the world inhabited by Jews? Maybe it was a colony of ill people-like TB or something? Aren't they still debating about the populace of that locale in any case?

DID ANYONE ELSE GET PASSED OVER W/THE KN TRACT?

i live in a small, rural town pop.

2000. my daughter and i did not get any visit or tract.. i thought this was supposed to be a final warning - a life saving work.. not complaining, but just curious if you didn't get one.. juni .

I didn't get one. I would feel sad, but I haven't seen a JW in years except for relatives and one old friend who doesn't care that I am disassociated (elders wife whose good heart trumps her religion!HAH!!!) Several years ago I was (effectively)put on a DNC list, I am sure.

There are some blanks, but in fairness, they are parts of the Bible that are up for debate-many think they are VERY post apostolic era additions. I don't think they just plain omit any w/o a reason. They have changed many in the OT/NT to suit their purposes, doctrines and theology.

Parents say the darnest things...

my father told my sister that he wants her to get baptised as a jw so that he can see her dead baby daughter in paradise.

this is the same man who is not speaking to his live grand-daughter (my daughter) because he and i aren't on speaking terms.

messed up ain't it?
