My DD actually went through this a few years ago (she is 15 now) and trust me WE KNEW and we made her shower daily and STILL she stunk. She had a brother who went through a mildly stinky adolescent phase, but she took the cake. UGH. Eventually all the hormones calmed down and she apparently figured out how to use the soap properly (I think part of the problem was a lack of body awareness and awkwardness with dealing with body changes-hers were quick and dramatic.) We went WAY beyond hinting, and I think I was actually mean a couple of times (she has forgiven me!) We have had two teenagers now and a few of the friends have experienced it also. Thank God they all seem to be over it. . . .I have noticed my 6 year old has some seriously stinky feet ALREADY!!! And the wheel keeps turning. . .

My 2 Year Anniversary on JWD.
by AK - Jeff inwhat a ride it has been!.
i was [and had been for a full year] sure that leaving the jw's was the right thing to do, before i showed up here.
still, the journey was just underway then, and this forum has been a wonderful aid in that journey.. i remember the first few weeks, when i discovered that some of the posters here [mouthy, jst2laws and his wife (joysabelle i think)] had aided me earlier thru emails in the first of my earliest contacts, before i knew of jwd.

Why do women love religion?
by Kaethra ini've pondered this so much.
most religions, even though they are male-dominated, boast a predominately female population.
i've tried and tried to understand why otherwise independent women would give up their autonomy to a man-led faith and just recently i think i understand why...women, much more so than men, are in need of protection.

Too much time on our collective hands? Same reason we sell Avon, Mary Kay and Tupperware? Volunteer for projects that are of little use and not very appreciated by anyone but the committee who deems it necessary? I wonder myself. I figure whatever the reason is will be a reason that makes us nice people, but too easily led.

AT 1:26PM FRIDAY OUR DAUGHTER WAS BORN!!!
by Es inwell its all happend, got to the hosp early friday morning, had my waters broken at around 7:30am had to wait for an hour and a half to see if labour would begin naturally, it didnt so at 9am i was hooked up to the drip, man that was intense, put it to you this way, blakes labour was about 8 hours all up kaia's labour was 3 hours and i would rather go through the 8 hour one anyday.. it was a very short labour, kaia was born a bit shocked as it happend so fast so she was rushed up to nursery for a bit as she was purple and not breathing properly but after an hour on oxygen she was fine, me on the other hand had to be stitched up coz pushing a 9 pound 1 baby out naturally with no drugs does damage heheh, then i had to be hooked up to a drip for 4 hours as i lost a bit of blood.
but once we were all sorted it was all good.
she is doing so well we are at home now, she is beautiful and very content.

Does anyone remember?

I remember my aunt moving to an adorable little house that the entire family soon determined was demon infested. Crazy JW times. It was the early-mid 70's. But they WERE especially nuts round then. Its amazing that they didn't actually drink the cool-aid.

Reflecting on a year of freedom
by fullofdoubtnow inthis is my 5000th post, and on wednesday it will be a year to the date since i was announced as no longer being one of jehovahs witnesses.
i sent my da letter a few weeks prior to that, but i suppose it became official when it was announced.
so i thought i'd look back on the last 12 months, and see where i am now compared to then.

This is very exciting for me... but I need your help...
by misguided ini had a chat with my mother the other night...it was "business" as she just retired.
but i took the opportunity to tell her about the russell graphing his dates to pyramid measurements and told her to look at studies in the scriptures vol iii, 1904 edition would give a 1881 date, but the 1910 edition would give the 1914 date.
i know my grandmother has these books in her library...and she lives with them, so my mom can look them up and see the "truth.".

Hi, when I am in a dim-ish room and can see basic shapes, they are the same shapes, only with more difinition and detail as the light gets brighter. The furniture doesn't disappear, it becomes clearer. Light getting brighter would not disintegrate the things that were in the room, it wouldn't make them disappear and the shapes would not morph from mouse to elephant. Facts don't disappear, they can be FURTHER defined, but previous information should not change.
When a child is learning to read, they learn the little words-that is all that their 'gods'(parents/teachers)feel they are ready for. But after they learn to read 'it, as, I, we, them, sun, ran, mom, dad, son,' and move on to more difficult words, the small words are not ignored, forgotten or altered. They are truly the foundational words, and are used frequently throughout life. If that was how the WT 'light' became brighter, they may have a valid arguement. But they say that all the words you learned previous to this decade, year, week or yesterday are no longer valid or usable words once they get 'new' words. Is that light or darkness? Is there any wisdom in such a statement?

daft fashion question
by Ellie inbefore i got pregnant i bought some nice short sleeve shirts, now that i've had my baby they are quite tight across the chest and my belly, so i was wondering if i could wear them open with a vest top underneath, or would this look daft?.

My husband says women are more attractive when they aren't spending money thats tight:) Your idea is a good one. The extra weight will come off eventually if you make any effort, and I doubt it is nauseating as you think. If your shirts still fit (even tightly) it isn't so far off from your pre baby weight to be unmanageable. My sis-in-laws weight was always a little higher till her youngest started walking(running!).
