Commentary said that it was just to show how wicked the men of Belial were. In ch. 20, the men of Israel rise against Benjamin (sons of Belial?), kill all the married women, steal all the virgins. It was a mess of men deciding what they thought was appropriate. No king around. It was a mess. THe story of the Levite man and his concubine was to explain the uprising against Benjamin, and I don't think that the few verses given regarding the concubine and her husband was a full explanation, but it sure DOES look like a cold blooded scene, doesn't it?

At the grocery store
by beksbks inso i just went to the store, and got a few items.
salmon steak, artichokes, potatoes, grapes, peaches, and goat cheese.
the lady behind me (who was on one of those hoverounds) asked me what the little package was, i told her goat cheese.

Yikes, I am an offensive shopper. I once asked someone what kind of dog they had (3 huge bags of dog food at Costco). I am always chatting up people, I am one of the bored housewives. I am generally pretty complimentary about cute kids or didn't the veg dept look amazing today(my life isn't exciting, I appreciate a nice produce dept). I have met new friends so I guess I am not too obnoxious. Maybe I should censor?

i re-read it after someone posted to it and brought it back on active topics and it was kind of prophetic in a way ... well, i had the 5 years part right if nothing else:.
it would be nice to visit the site (or whatever one is around then) in 5 years time to let people know how we're doing and find only a few of the same people still around.

i know for some it has appeared that they have a newfound religion or religious belief, but that is not the case with myself.. for some maybe visiting these sites encourages them to shed those miserable memories?
for me it just builds more resentment.

Time, maturity, gratitude(i could still be IN! and I am NOT!) Being happy is the best antidote. The bitterness is gone, but the reality of the wrongness of it that I know of doesn't need to be bitter if it is discussed in a honest way. There are some on other boards (maybe even here) that I think have overdramatized issues so that I don't even recognize the people they are talking about as a group. I think the religion is wrong, but I don't have to make up crap for the doctrines and REAL policies to look any worse than they actually are-if you know what I mean.

She confessed to you. Forgive her and be the 'bigger person' in that you aren't using a issue like that in the way that it has been used in congregations. And be grateful she isn't unafraid to go against the WT teachings-it may come back and help you in the future.

My JW parents met my wife, but would not see me...

because i was class president, i've been responsible for throwing all the reunions we've held.
while i come to michigan on business a few times per year, i don't usually make it all the way up to the little, northeast, lake huron tourist town where they live.

The least credible part of it(other than the alleged closing being sincere if indeed written at all) was the bit about the rates being raised JUST FOR THE "brothers". The economy is sucky all over. Rates are not raised for one group as implied by the letter. They may have been raised for the season or they may have raised everything a little knowing that a huge bunch of their normal visitors were not coming that summer and were trying to make it up off of all their customers. Rates generally raise regularly. AH, it's always persecution, isn't it?
Well, that is my view-but who else would even GO to amarillo in the summer? On purpose? You all ever BEEN there? Dallas, even on a muggy Nov. can be unbearable w/o AC. (ok, I've never been to amarillo:))

Not sure if I mentioned it here, but I have shown the info to my mom years ago. Sigh. She is a JW, and she generally thinks I am really smart-except about the WT:)
JWs in general don't like anything I have to say-I think the reason is I am reasonable. I don't go attacking, frothing at the mouth. It is easier to deal with and dismiss the Danny Haszard types for a JW. They probably kind of love him. No offense to DH, but his approach is an easy one for JWs to latch on to as fitting their stereotype of opposers.
