Governing Body Worship in the WT: July 15th, 2014 issue
by Oubliette inthe july 15th, 2014 issue of the watchtower has the "life story" of gb member gerrit losch on pages 17-22.. think about it.
this losch love-fest is 6 pages of the current wt!.
that's nearly 20% of the ragazine.. is this the beginning of a series of idolatrous articles indoctrinating jws with gb worship?

Jack The Ripper Unmasked?

to be accepted as fact, these claims will have to be replicated.

Vivianne, I read the article and while the shawl provenance is unproven, they did mention how it was extracted and that mitochondrial dNA from descendants of both parties was used to compare.
It's a long time later-proving it is kind of a intellectual game in any case, but they actually did make a fairly good surface case for it. I don't remember why they settled on checking the dna descendant of the alleged Ripper. It will be interesting to see if it has any further substantiation. Maybe it is like one of the fake mermaids that keep popping up, maybe it is like Troy. You never know.
I have read Cornwells work on Sickert and while it was compelling, I was not convinced of it. There wasn't enough circumstantial evidence for me. DNA evidence, if proven with some degree of credibility, would be pretty compelling. At this point, it is interesting but not yet enough for ME to say 'case closed' and you know, my opinion matters to so many people:)

PART TWO of AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE BY A PRACTICING JEHOVAH'S WITNESS
by Sparks inwhile you are sitting there reading this, there are literally hundreds of thousands of young males and females all over the world [ mostly in america / canada and england] sitting in their grotty little smelly bedrooms or flats, designing computer viruses that they will up-load onto web-sites to cause anonymous innocent peoples computers to malfunction.
these creeps spend literally weeks, months or even years hoping to make a computer viruses that will get into peoples computer bios to completely destroy their computers.
they never see the peoples anger, frustration and distress.... the damage can cost each person about 1,000 [ $1,660.74 ] or more to replace a basic new laptop or tower.

These are the same people that go door to door presenting as "good news" a false hope that isn't even from the Bible that they pretend to believe.
They are followers of men and having experienced the WT brand of "love", well, if I was still among them, I'd be on the same antidepressents my active JW mom takes (prozak chased with way too much alcohol).
One need only glance at the home page to know that they have not come to a WT approved site (though seriously, there is only ONE WT approved site and discussion sites are not allowed, last I knew)
So, get off hour high horse and go leave whatever WT filth is required this month. This gets you no points in this world or the next.

Anyone else notice the new Terms of Use on jw.org?
by leaving_quietly ini first noticed it today... slides up at the bottom.
i wonder why they felt the need to do this?
this is just silly for a religious website..

Can they assign themselves the right to not allow us (statutory) fair use of the materials from the site that are written and disseminated in other places and formats?
What am I missing?

Copy of my DA Letter
by airborne inthis is my first time posting here, although i have been a visitor to it for around a year.
after doing a simple google search under "jehovah'switnesses" over a year ago, i found ttat.
i was deeply unhappy with the congregation and decided to educate myself, and boy what an education i have gotten so far.

I'm a great editor(less skilled writer and can't edit myself to save myself) and I would not change a thing. As an experienced former JW (over 30 years now), I think you said the exact right thing. Wish I could be so succinct! I know you are unburdened now because you kept your class, your dignity and actually maintained a respectful (as towards other human beings) vibe to the elders. Wow.

Is new light coming again?
by justme67 ini just turned in my resignation letter to my congregation a few weeks ago.
last week, 2 elders called me to say they received my letter and would like to meet with me to discuss my concerns.
in my letter, i said i had found out about all the child abuse cases that were going on and that i didnt agree with their policy of disfellowshipping.

I'd say, "I don't want to be part of an organization where certain men have critically important information that they think could be life saving and they won't tell that person what it is when they are standing right there in front of them." Exit right.

Are we starting to treat DF people differently?
by Quarterback insome may remember the time when the private study edition of the wt wasn't to be made available to outsiders, and the df'd.. now, with the recent boe letter, sept 1, 2014, it specifically states that jw.org is making the km available even for df'd individuals.. do you sense a new trend developing?.
-
JWdaughter
I don't think it has anything to do with DFing. The KM is stupid, boring and all over the internet every month anyways. Why be coy? They are going to save thousands every month by making it available online.
I think that the recent guideline from the org may come into play soon: You know where they tell you that you may be asked to do something stupid-just do it already. . . they are not going to do any of that in anything written. It is going to be word of mouth to JWs that show up are present and accounted for-and trusted. They are going to do crazy ass stuff, but you aren't going to see it in any writing whatsoever. They finally figured that bit out-like we should all know by now not to send naked pictures or take any-ever-because theyWILL get out. The WT learned that it needs to find another way to disseminate info that it doesn't want tracable back to them, but will still be obeyed implicitly by the R&F. Not sure how that will be done, but they are setting everyone up for it.

HELP needed for a friend, please. Anyone?..
by defender of truth ina friend of mine (who has recently started reading jwn) is having trouble eating and sleeping because, even after having recently woken up to ttatt.. they are still concerned about 'demons, everlasting destruction, and jehovahs disapproval'.. i've tried to encourage them.
i'm sure you all understand that these things can take time, the transition period is often painful, to some extent.
i'm still struggling with anger and depression myself.. i'll be away from jwn, off the internet, and thus out of contact with them for a while (don't ask why)... so please don't expect me to reply to or even look at what you post, .

God did not instruct that women could be stoned if they did not have proof of virginity. If God was really the Creator and God had anything to do with the Bible, God would know that a bloody cloth is not proof that a woman is either a virgin or a harlot. A bloody sheet or the lack of it proves nothing at all regarding a womans sexual history or morality-even if one wanted to argue that having had sex makes one not a virgin and therefore impure, 25% of women are sexually abused-I doubt it was lot different thousands of years ago and therefore, a girl could have had her hymen "compromised" and not even KNOW it. She would be an innocent, still. (See Deut. 22)
No just or true God would use this man made judgement to declare a woman an immoral harlot and stone her.
A truly ignorant man came up with that one. Not the all knowing creator of the universe and women!
So, don't worry about what the Bible is saying to condemn you or scare you.

they roped off areas because if you were all crammed together in the stadium, they wanted to get THOSE shots for their photos, videos, etc. It looks more impressive to others if its crowded. You know we see pics of sparsely populated venues and it just looks kind of sad-even pathetic.
they were just ensuring some good pics. It would be nice if they would just ensure that everyone got a seat with a good view and easy access to restrooms that didn't threaten you if you use more than one towel, but. . .
As to the Indians, I still wonder what the heck the org was thinking! Idiots.
