Cant we put financial pressure on the Borg?

why dont everyone just start taking publications, asking for more and just say you don't have any money.

They would just guilt/hound the rest of the congregation.

The next time a member of jw community goes through a financial hardship due to death ir illness, see about using kh parking lot for a huge congregational rummage sale woth proceeds going direct to bills(so fam doesn't send to mother). Elders will likely refuse. Then get permission from a local camber of commerce, community center or sm. Businessman. make sure to prominently announce your congregation. When people ask why you arent there, tell them! if it gets you reproved or dfd tell everyone why. What are they gonna shun you for? Being nice? The biggest witnees is cong members, bonus witness to community.

Residence fire damages building at Bethel in Congo (Africa)

word is there was a fire yesterday at a residence building at congo bethel in africa.

lots of damage, a hundred or so out of a place to stay.

no one injured.

Not all jws live in the style of western jws. Fires do happen for non-greedy reasons.

Jws are still controversial. Congo is a very violent country. It has a history filled with corruption and an every man for himself sense of survival. Nothing in the gamut from an innocent accident to a brutal retaliation would surprise me.

More Chinese quick-build techniques developed

an american web-site, green builder media, reports a new chinese development in the use of 3d very fast building techniques.. in one project, winsun (yingchuang construction technique), used their technology to create and build the home in, what they say, was less than 24 hours.

in another project (last year) using last year, using " four huge 3d printers, yingchuang new materials inc. was able to print the shells of 10 one-room structures in 24 hours and at a cost of only about $5,000 per building.

the buildings had to harden at the factory and then be transported and assembled on site.".

the person appearing in this video was the presiding overseer of a congregation in which i was serving.

i had served in a lot of congregations over the years and had seen a lot of crazy goings on, but this particular elder was high up on the "crazy list".

He looks too old to be terribly savvy about CRM. Just saying. While I won't say its only for young people, it is a young man's game these days.

My company bigwig was tallking about how with all their business-y attire at HQ, they had some amazing, highly recommended web designers come to corporate the other day-not on time, not dressed to do "business" (sandals were mentioned, along with t-shirts and board shorts) and basically in every way showing that they they were totally on their game so far as their business expertise. They were asking good questions and developing strategies for improving the system from the start (though it was a bit later than they originally expected :) )

That guy looked like a JW elder. Few dress like that even in corporate positions anymore (save at big deal events) unless they are insurance salesmen or JWs.

Coming back for family. She wasn't "coming back to Jehovah", she was coming back to momma.

Its amazing how some cling to abusive parents and toxic family relationships, isn't it?

Everything seems to be changing... why not birthdays?

if we look at all doctrines, we see an overall effort to conserve unity and control.

- assuming most birthdays, if allowed, would probably be oriented to children, then that means 40 celebrations per year.

so all in all, this give a total potential attendance to a birthday of 30 families (120 attendance / 4 family members).

Can you imagine all the issues at birthday parties? Drunk parents, inappropriate gifts (like the wizard Caleb loved), one-upping the elders kids parties. . . they'd be DFing folks right and left. Elders don't have time for all that drama!

Unscripturally Free To Be Married - the Contradications

so far i have worked out 2 challenges to this ridiculous, stupid cruel imposed rule that results in disfellowshipping.

(1) if someone is still scriptually married after a divorce, and moved back in with their ex, they would be disfellowshipped.

so then on what grounds did you ever mean someone was still married?

The ex was thanking God that he divorced before she met the JWs.

I always thought that any divorce before baptism was considered a sin that didn't have to be dealt with. I think they deal with those who have KILLED people with more leniency-I remember reading some question of what if a guy confessed to murder before becoming a JW. I believe it just addressed the legal issues, not the moral ones, but basically the idea was that all was forgiven.

it has been 2 and a half years since my departure from the religion.

i was told by my parents from the start that i would never speak to them until i returned to jehovah dog.

a few months later they told people they hoped i died before the end came, then all of this culminating in them telling my inactive / fading sister that they don't consider me a child anymore and they have given me up to satan.

Good thing you are out. Good thing your children are out. Too bad bout your mom. I wonder if that was some sort of drunk JW call to prove to all the other JWs that she has indeed cut you out of her life? If there were others around her, it seems as if there may have been some peer pressure/alcohol involved?

at our meeting last night there was a talk about having run out of magazines for the last three months.

it's expected this will continue to happen.

the "branch" has not sent the requested number of magazines.
