Article in Australian newspaper regarding jw shunning and charity

however, if you want to read the article about jw shunning and denial of this practice, then have a read.

Losing tax exempt status to some great degree (by religious and dubious 'charities' for anything not expressly and truly charitable) would sure be a great way to "judge" the real charitableness of a religion. Are they generous and kind if they don't taxes abated? Would they think that the publishing was worth it? Would they remove every bit of church activity or charitable things that they value now if they were not getting all taxes removed? If they had to pay for land taxes and employment taxes for ministers and they didn't get anything beyond normal business deductions (another tax issue that needs to lose some wiggliness)-would they bother?

If actual PREACHING activity was not tax deductible, but only actually feeding or housing, heaing needy people was-would churches bother with other 'outreach' activities? How would it work? I hope I live in a world sometime that knows!!

No no No No NO! Jehovah's Witnesses are NOT COOL NOW!

they obviously know it.. in the last few years, a more modern, hip, and cool image for their brand has been foisted on the public at large.. jw.org.

(sidebar: a group of us witnesses, when i was a teen, were sternly lectured by a circuit servant about how wrong it was to refer to ourselves as jw's.want to know why?

he said, "reducing jehovah's name to mere letters of an alphabet is blasphemy!

I did not hear it was blasphemy, but we did get the message that it was disrespectful and we NEVER referred to each other or ourselves as JWs. I am not sure that they do even now, really. Do they? I know the logo/website, but do they say "I'm a JW"? .

I had breakfast with 50+ JWs on Sunday

we pulled into a hotel parking lot saturday around 6pm on the return leg of a wonderful family vacation to new england - an then fate stepped in---a man in a suit got out of a car with the rest of a picture perfect family.

i immediately noticed all the name tags--- and my blood pressure spiked 50pts- damn!!

i was booked in a 4 story hotel full of jws-- the only time they took off the name tags was in the swimming pool- they were so proud of themselves.. at 6:30 am the hot water went cold in the wife's shower- what do you expect on the 4th floor when a herd of jws is trying to get ready at the same time?

The incredibly white NAACP leader

this is a bizarre story.. there is a woman who is the local leader of the naacp who is obviously trying to mislead people into believing she is black who is actually white.

very white.. she obviously gets a tan regularly but looks more orange.

yes, orange really is the new black!.

I think her ex and kids are black. My mom babysIt for a lady who dyed her hair red after she adopted her red haired son. She was an anchor on a local channel 30 years ago and has been in state Senate or congress.

Maybe it started out as innocently as identifying with her kids and got out of control at some point.

I can say I am a male tomcat, but it doesn't mean everyone should offer me catnip and provide kitty litter!

Bruce can call himself whatever he wants to. So can this woman. Reality may bite for them, but no one else is obligated to play into their headgames.

I lost nearly 200 lbs. I still feel fat, but as I don't wear a catsuit, no one is supporting my body dismorphia.

All the same, she's got a great stylist. I love her hair.

Cant we put financial pressure on the Borg?

why dont everyone just start taking publications, asking for more and just say you don't have any money.

They would just guilt/hound the rest of the congregation.

The next time a member of jw community goes through a financial hardship due to death ir illness, see about using kh parking lot for a huge congregational rummage sale woth proceeds going direct to bills(so fam doesn't send to mother). Elders will likely refuse. Then get permission from a local camber of commerce, community center or sm. Businessman. make sure to prominently announce your congregation. When people ask why you arent there, tell them! if it gets you reproved or dfd tell everyone why. What are they gonna shun you for? Being nice? The biggest witnees is cong members, bonus witness to community.

Residence fire damages building at Bethel in Congo (Africa)

word is there was a fire yesterday at a residence building at congo bethel in africa.

lots of damage, a hundred or so out of a place to stay.

no one injured.

Not all jws live in the style of western jws. Fires do happen for non-greedy reasons.

Jws are still controversial. Congo is a very violent country. It has a history filled with corruption and an every man for himself sense of survival. Nothing in the gamut from an innocent accident to a brutal retaliation would surprise me.

More Chinese quick-build techniques developed

an american web-site, green builder media, reports a new chinese development in the use of 3d very fast building techniques.. in one project, winsun (yingchuang construction technique), used their technology to create and build the home in, what they say, was less than 24 hours.

in another project (last year) using last year, using " four huge 3d printers, yingchuang new materials inc. was able to print the shells of 10 one-room structures in 24 hours and at a cost of only about $5,000 per building.

the buildings had to harden at the factory and then be transported and assembled on site.".

JW Elder Promoting His Business on YouTube

the person appearing in this video was the presiding overseer of a congregation in which i was serving.

i had served in a lot of congregations over the years and had seen a lot of crazy goings on, but this particular elder was high up on the "crazy list".

He looks too old to be terribly savvy about CRM. Just saying. While I won't say its only for young people, it is a young man's game these days.

My company bigwig was tallking about how with all their business-y attire at HQ, they had some amazing, highly recommended web designers come to corporate the other day-not on time, not dressed to do "business" (sandals were mentioned, along with t-shirts and board shorts) and basically in every way showing that they they were totally on their game so far as their business expertise. They were asking good questions and developing strategies for improving the system from the start (though it was a bit later than they originally expected :) )

That guy looked like a JW elder. Few dress like that even in corporate positions anymore (save at big deal events) unless they are insurance salesmen or JWs.

Coming back for family. She wasn't "coming back to Jehovah", she was coming back to momma.

Its amazing how some cling to abusive parents and toxic family relationships, isn't it?
