I'm in Houston and we have a lot of Hispanic Muslims here. There is a jummah in Spanish here already, I think, but not a whole mosque. There is a Ladies Mosque in the works, too. "The pink mosque" which I think is kind of trite, but I guess it keeps it clear. . .

I don't see how the WT is responsible for this case. If it happened to another child, that child might possibly, but even so. . .

I'm sure that your marriage did a 180 once you started devoting all that time, love and attention to your spouse, instead of the organization. It's too bad that she is buying into their nonsense.
If the marriage survived and moved on, I am sure you are not pulling the adultery card out whenever you disagree-or the marriage would not have survived. People, even those who love God (however they love God) can make a mistake and it doesn't make everything they do thereafter hypocritical if it is related to following their faith. It's a shame that some would think that alone should shut down any conversations. Obviously it is a part of your story, but it seems to be a lynchpin of YOU coming to your senses about the religion, not your wife. Was she DF'd? I ask because it seems that those who are DF'd and fight their way back in are all the more adamant about the non-truth after they are reinstated.

Colin, my mom was an irregular attender until she had kids. Then she "got serious". Please don't do that to yourself or your children.
My mom has 3 kids who don't believe as she does. She is regularly cutting one or the other of us (or our kids) off. It is a bully organization and I don't think she believes ANY of it other than that the JWs are better than the rest (lesser of the evils, I guess) For that, she has limited her life, her joy and her experience. Don't do that to you, your partner or your beautiful kids. You want to teach the about Jesus? You can teach them how to follow his good examples (beatitudes, etc) without teaching them to follow any religious doctrine. JWs and others don't get the difference between following Jesus and following a organization or men. Learn what Jesus had to say and leave off the rest of it. Its just religion, it has nothing to do with faith.

Trolley cart "witnessing" is getting ridiculous
by oppostate ini really fail to see how much actual "witnessing" is occurring with the trolley carts.publishers, usually pioneers, just stand or sit there not engaging anyone and count their time.. the only thing i notice that it's accomplishing is brand exposure for jw.0rg so the public is exposed to the logo and literature/poster card headlines.. take for example this "evening" witnessing by a pioneer elder while on summer holiday/vacation.. .
is this not a wth kinda moment when you consider the years of slaving, knocking on doors, business territory and bible studies we had to keep performing so we weren't branded a "weak" publisher?.

911, silly!
If you get to the kingdom hall and the sound system has been stolen, sister A says she saw brother B loading it onto his van, Who do you call first and why?
Bro B to mention that the others saw him removing it and ask when he plans on bringing it back. Maybe bro. B is getting it repaired. No reason to go all judicial on the guy!
If you get to the kingdom hall and there's a dead body on the platform with blood everywhere and brother A says he saw sister B commit the murder,Who do you call first and why?
911, dude, there's a dead body on the platform. After the cops are done THEN you call the brother in charge of crime scene cleanups (you know there is a brother who does that professionally, right?) to tell him of the opportunity he has to provide his services as "an offering to Jehovah". First things first.
So, if you get to the kingdom hall and a little one is claiming that brother or sister so and so has sexually abused them, Who do you call first and why?
Bethel, of course! They need to know for their records.(Now sing along if you know it) One of these things is not like the other, 3 of these things are kinda the same,
can ya tell which thing is not like the other by the time we finish the game
Now, now, you know that the elders can't answer THAT one. . .its not in any elder's manual!

Updates and fixes
by Simon ini thought i'd spend some time cleaning up the forum code and wanted to let you know about some of the recent changes and fixes:.
the avatars and in-post images used to use a separate imaging service which was convenient but didn't provide much control over caching which meant that each day you visited the site you were probably re-downloading those images again.
as they are immutable they can be cached for a long time which saves bandwidth and speeds things up.

Simon, most of what you wrote in the OP was Greek to me (actually, probably understand Greek, Arabic and Urdu a little better!), but I did notice that I can no longer "Like" a post more than once. A little red circle with a line through it now shows up-which is good. I do appreciate all your work and efforts on this site.

Trenton NJ Convention... Some Brief mpressions
by Room 215 inpeak attendance (sunday): 5,645; 26 baptized.
general impression: "convention light"-- i.e.
entertainment value:(previously nil) now enhanced by leavening the boring talks with interspersed video.

Jehovah loves "even rounded numbers" or could this be a way to disprove the inspiration of the Bible?
by notjustyet inwhile i am not able to recall them all at this time, i remember so many instances that when a number was quoted in the bible, especially large numbers, they were all "rounded up" to the nearest hundred or thousand.
for instance the angel killed 185,000 syrians, not 184,879. sampson killed a thousand men with the jawbone of an ass, not 961. and on and on on the even rounded numbers.
i would guess that it could be agues that these numbers were correct but is that realistic?
-
JWdaughter
Eh, rounded numbers are the least of my issues with the Bible.
