by RULES & REGULATIONS inwe've been told that the 144,000 are providing the ''spiritual food'' and that there are a little over 8,000 of them on earth today.

DOES ANYONE STILL NOT CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS???
by chuckyy injust wondering if anyone still does not celebrate xmas since leaving jws.....or like me do you think"to hell with it", and join in the festivities.
if you do celebrate it, do you still have pangs of guilt for celebrating this "pagan" festival???.

I agree Winnie. And its kinda sad that so many ex-JWs just cant stop over-analyzing and enjoy a simple holiday for what it is. Geez, lighten up people!
As for the fact that its highly commercialized, so what??? EVERYTHING in life is commercialized!
Xmas is just an excuse to have some fun with friends and family and experience the pleasure of giving gifts to your kids/wife/husband etc. From some of these posts I certainly get where the stereotype of the bitter ex-JW comes from !!! LOL....

a little sniffter.....a couple sips helped numb the psychological torture of sitting through the Watchtower in the second hour. Yup! Thats how much I HATED
being there..... Surely I couldn't have been the only one resorting to this desperate measure? LOL....

Sorry, I'm calling bullsh*t on this one. Either the entire story is fiction, or this is not a real Circuit Overseer. No way in hell a CO would ever say something like this. Whats more, a CO is in no position nor has any authority to "demand" that JC records be destroyed. That is entirely the domain of Brooklyn. COs are just lowly employees with no real power.

2006 SERVICE REPORT - Feb 1, 2007 WT
by Mary ini'm not sure if anyone's posted this yet, but here are the figures for the 2006 service report.
i highlighted the countries that have either a "0" or negative growth in yellow and i highlighted key countries where the you would expect more growth......i tried looking for england's stats, but i couldn't see it.
i looked under "england" and "united kingdom" but i can't see it.

What XMas Present Would You Like This Year???
by minimus inone thing that jws do, whether they were "strong in the truth" or not is accept presents.
even if they don't "celebrate" thanksgiving, they'd still take the turkey from the employer.
if someone sent out a birthday gift or christmas present, a witness would still take but never givein return.

We celebrate, but it has no religious meaning whatsoever since my wife and I are atheist.
Why? For the simple reason its fun to give and receive gifts, its an opportunity for some quiet quality time together. And frankly, I think our xmas tree looks awesome in our living room!
Turkey, eggnog, chocolates, ornaments, lights, tinsel, mistletoe, I love it all!
It was an important part of my "worldly" wifes childhood and culture so thats another reason we keep it as a tradition in our marriage. In addition, since I was deprived of this during my childhood, its yet another way for me to shove my "apostacy" in the face of the borg.
