  i need help identifying the source of this photo, which purports to show the watchtower crowd going up to the top of the mount of olives in 1914 awaiting the rapture.. .

  i would like to show this photo to several jws along with the article in the october 8 1968 awake, which says.... true, there have been those in times past who predicted an end to the world, even announcing a specific date.

  some have gathered groups of people with them and fled to the hills or withdrawn into their houses waiting for the end.yet nothing happened.

  think of the ancient world as classical music.

  think of greek philosophy as rock n' roll or rhythmn and blues.. there is still classical music, but, rock and roll overtook and dominanted popular tastes and changed the marketplace.. now, think of hip hop in relation to rock and roll.

  rock and roll begins to fade and a whole new cultural ethos begins to dominate popular tastes.

  Its probably healthier to have "best" friends beyond figments of one's imagination......

  Nevertheless, since perceived "communication" with "god" is really nothing more than internally generated dialogue (ie conversing with your own inner consciousness) I concede it is possible that one could consider the internal psychological construct of god a "best friend".....

  Theres a double-edged sword here.

  On the one hand, airing Cho's manifesto, videos, writings, etc essentially allowed the killer to achieve post-humously exactly what he wanted: attention and recognition, even if it was in the context of infamy. I have no doubt that others in a similarly psychotic state of mind will look to his manifesto as inspiration and encouragement for actiing out in similar ways.

  On the other hand, I think the police were completely wrong by asserting that this media provided by Cho contained "little valuable information". In fact, it provided an extremely rare and detailed insight into the psychological profile of a mass murderer. By making this information public, the public in turn becomes educated as to the sorts of personality profiles and mannerisms we should be alert to, when dealing with potentially dangerous individuals like this.

  Possibly one of the most disgusting, vile comments I have heard in a very long time. Thats right you f*cking moron, its the victims fault for not trying to "tackle" a maniac wielding two semi-automatic pistols as he burst into their classroom shooting off rounds in the middle of a college lecture......

  You know something hillbilly? You and your in-bred ilk represent one of the strongest arguments in support of state-enforced sterilization......anything to get borderline psychopaths such as yourself out of the "breeding" population.....

Countries with the heaviest restrictions on gun ownership have the LOWEST rates of gun related homicides, including Canada, Britain, Germany and Japan. The defenseless victims couldn't carry a gun legally on campus if they had one. > More bullshit. If the lunatic could walk into a VA gunshop and buy lethal handguns in 5 minutes ANYBODY in the state of VA could have done exactly the same thing. The shooter used easily concealed handguns and carried a backpack. IF ONE STUDENT OR TEACHER HAD A GUN THEY MIGHT HAVE HAD A CHANCE TO SAVE MANY LIVES. > More nonsense. The "hero" of the story HAD NO GUN. He barricaded the doors to prevent the killer from entering and saved his entire classroom. Furthermore, you HAVE NO IDEA that even IF another person on the scene had had a gun, that THAT person may not have simply been shot first, or would be too panicked to actually use the gun to effectively kill the perpetrator. This situation plays out over and over. Yes, and it will continue to play out over and over until Americans get over their fascination with guns and Dirty Harry movies. But I suppose you dream of an American society resembling a "shooting gallery"?
