The Anointed, the Numbers and the GB
by thinker inhave you ever considered the anointed, the number of partakers at the memorial and the governing body together?
if you examine the number of partakers you can clearly see that sometimes the numbers increase.
i asked some jws about this and their reply was, "those are replacements for unfaithful ones".

Why aren't congregations much bigger in size?
by JH in.
like that, they wouldn't need so many elders and ms. they would have plenty of brothers to read and pass the mic.. no where in the bible do they mention how big or small a congregation should be.
if ever one day they have a hard time forming enough ms and elders, wouldn't it be simpler to just make congregations larger?

But they seem quite good at large crowd control as well.....remember the dim-wits they have walking around the DC stadiums with their little "Please Sit Down" "Please Keep Moving" "Please be Quiet" "Please Turn off your Brain" signs?

How can we know there is a God?
by defd inone way to determine whether there is a god is to apply this well-established principle: what is made requires a maker.
the more complicated the thing made, the more capable the maker must be.. for example, look around your home.
tables, chairs, desks, beds, pots, pans, plates, and other eating utensils all require a maker, as do walls, floors, and ceilings.

The earth most certainly was 'created' as a vacation resort for humanity as creationists would have you believe. At best, humans are "accidental tourists". A great portion of the planet is completely UNINHABITABLE, we are constantly dealing with the wrath of nature (Katrina, anyone?) not to mention the millions of our other co-species that certainly dont co-exist too peacefully with us (mosquitos+ malaria+god's divine plan? lol)
The human body is a well adapted machine, but full of major "design" flaws. Our spinal cords and lower skeletons are not well suited for walking upright, hence our constant lower back problems and arthritic knees. We are prone to cancer, heart disease, mental illness, infections, etc etc.
If you were the supreme intelligence in the universe, would you design something with such overwhelming flaws? Does that make any logical sense? Was it that god designed it all to work perfectly, and seeing eve take a bite of the apple suddenly reversed the process to reveal all the malfunctions in the biological system? Alrighteeeee then!!
The old argument that "wow look how amazing the human eye is" (as I squint through my contact lenses) just doesnt hold water. Human organs are incredible when considered in their TOTALITY. In reality, they are only the sum of all their parts, and the individual PARTS, are relatively simple at the molecular and biological levels, and operate on basic principles of bio-electric and chemical signalling and many of these processes can be replicated in a petri dish.

WHen I was a kid, I remember an average of about 175 people in my KH at any given time. A decade later, it was dwindling to 40-50 and has stayed around there for about 5 years. In Toronto, many of the halls were built in the early to mid 60s and designed for congregations much larger in the pre-75 era. Its hard to imagine what they are going to do with all these empty buildings now that the older generation is dying off, the young are deserting in droves and the new recruits are fewer and fewer. They will make a fortune selling off that old real estate....

C.T. Russell: a confirmed Pittsburgh Free Mason
by kid-A inthere is overwhelming evidence that the spiritual founder of the wts, c.t.
russell, was a prominent free mason in the pittsburgh community.
he went so far as to declare: "i am a free mason" in several of his lectures.

Russell declared he was "gods mouthpiece". He was a deluded, megalomaniac who misled thousands of naive people to believe the world would certainly end in 1914. I would encourage anybody to read "Thy Kingdom Come" from cover to cover. It is full of scriptural misrepresentations and page after page of procrustean logic. He conned people into believing his own personal interpretation of the bible and mixed this up with ridiculous measurements of the pyramid to back up his ludicrous theories.
These are not the actions of an honest man. Honesty requires integrity and humility, two qualities Russell most obviously lacked. He was a charlatan and a fraud who was fortunate enough to find some gullible disciples.
