  i know we were sold a lie in believing god was only dealing with the wt and to obey them is to obey god.

  what puzzels me is that in rejecting the wt so many also reject their belief in god.

  surely they believed that god existed as witnesses.

Perhaps, but the fact is many ex-JWs become hyper-religious after leaving the JWs so that cant really be an explanation. "Once a JW decides to leave, then there really isnt any other belief system left that works for them, they are left godless." >I think the term is "God-Free"...lol.....Hmmm, as an atheist and a scientist, I would say I have very distinct and well-defined belief system, I simply have no supernatural creatures within my belief system. I think most atheist-agnostic ex-JWs here would call it "jumping from the frying pan and into the frier..."....or less eloquently, discovering another pile of the same shi*t? In reality, the exact same philosophical contradictions and logical inconsistencies exist in ALL forms of religious belief, JW or otherwise, its all just a "variation on a theme"......atheist ex-JWs have decided to burn the song-book, not just turn the page to another hymn...... "I imagine alot of the atheists/agnostics have been hurt so bad by their experience that it makes them doubt that a God of love exists." > I imagine that most of the religious ex-JWs chose to sustain their belief in the supernatural precisely because they were screwed over by the WTS and require the psychological anesthesia that belief in god provides in order to maintain their sense of security within the universe.

  The love of your life "cheats" on you....could you forgive?

  the old age question............ say, your "soul mate" the love of your life, goes on a trip with some friends.........something happens one night...... they have sex with a stranger( or even a friend)............they come home and tell you what they did............they still love you.. what would you do?...............is the marriage over?

  No way. The relationship would be poisoned from that day forward....there would be constant, unspoken resentment and bitterness. I just wouldnt want to be in a relationship like that.

  by watchtower theology, millions if not billions of dead people will be resurrected in jehoobie's funland...... assuming 6 million dubs survive the fiery wrath of lord jehoobie, they will represent a tiny minority in the new world order!.

  according to the borg, all of these newly risen dead will require a "witness", meaning, the kingdom ministry will by necessity be in full swing,.

  Yes, the Evolution book did it for me. It was so chock full of lies, misquotes and anti-scientific garbage, I finally perceived the WTBS for the liars and manipulators they truly are.

  Why did we failed to see the rather obvious signs?

  when we decided to accept the jws something drew us to them perhaps the belief that they had the truth and they could provide a refuge from the so called armageddon.

  or it could be the need to belong somewhere or to associate with (ostensibly) spiritual people as was the case with me.

  but why (unlike many other interested persons) did we miss the many rather obvious signs that there was something fundmentally wrong with this organisation so as to save ourselves a lot of trouble in the future when deciding to leave it?

  Cant really answer the question since I was born into it and it was forced upon me from my first breath.

  However, one talent the dubs possess is to convince the potential convert that everyone else is WRONG. From the get-go, they attack every other religion on the face of the earth, exposing their flaws and contradictions whilst trumpeting their own standards of "interpretive correctness", I think for many people, this is the hook. It leads to the position: "Well, they may have some flaws, but EVERY OTHER religion is much worse".....This effectively shuts down internally generated criticisms.
