  is there anyone out there well-versed in the 'shepherd' book and judicial proceedings?.

  Yes.

  I disagree. I think it happens so rarely you shouldn't worry about it.

  No wrongdoing has been established, no witnesses to anything, no contact with the cong.

  Previous poster is wrong.

  a. No one even knows who you are.

  b. Even if they did, most likely you would be simply viewed as an inactive, spiritually sick brother.

  The reason the answers here are all over the map is because the dub organization is inconsistent in both the application and enforcement of the "rules"

  Maybe the answers are all over the map because some posters don't understand the current 'rules'.

  The official stand is that if they are not viewed as, or claiming to be, a jw in the local area there would be no reason to form a judicial committee.

  However, on occasion, there is a witch hunt but it is pretty rare.

  Exactly why I said J is in the clear.

  I have never heard of Elders trying to track down a complete stranger from another State who is inactive.

  If they did they would never have time for anything else.

  hi, i've been lurking on here for a few days but i have a burning question that needs to be answered so i'm outing myself... .

  i'm a non-jw (non-christian, in fact) and i've been in a relationship with a jw for the last five years.

  we're both pretty young (early 20s) and he still lives at home with his devoutly jw family.

  Dating a non-JW is not a disfellowshipping offense. If you are sleeping with him and it is discovered it could be though.

  It's good that his family is decent about it as that seems pretty rare to me in the JW world. In any event to answer your question, yes, many JWs are more strict than others.

  Scriptures printed out for the WT study from the WT's own CD.

  I also got counseled for buying those outside binders and things they used to sell on the Internet.
