Prior to Pearl Harbor, the US was isolationist. America was largely against being involved in the war in Europe. Pearl Harbor turned popular sentiment around 180 degrees. No poll required.

Eighty or Ninety percent of Americans would not have supported World War II
by MsMcDucket inif there had been a poll, eighty to ninety percent of americans would not have supported world war ii.
this is what my daughter's history professor was telling her in class today.
the reason why is because the people said that we shouldn't get involved in other nation's affairs and because they were tired of american's dying fighting other people's wars.

What does God really require from us?
by MinisterAmos inwhat is required from us?
the two most important things are to love god and to love your neighbor, following jesus' example.. since we already know that all god requires from us is love (and the respect that accompanies it of course) why do jws feel they are "chosen" when they espouse hate?.
interesting that i have been asked to "push" the love part in field service, and told that the rest is "too much for them to understand at first.

Who is the wild beast in Revelation??
by Star Moore ini have been trying to figure this out, as i do believe that revelation is written for our day.
and too, that it is inspired from god.
here some thoughts about the beast that i wrote down.. .

If I were the dragon, or the great beast, here is what I would do:
Knowing that so many people look for signs from Revelations, I'd make them happen. And I'd set up my "anti-christ" patsy.
Once he was in place and fulfilled all these prophecies as being the "anti-christ", I'd send out the real deal, pretending to be the Christ, to confront and overthrow this "false" anti-christ.
"But God wouldn't let that happen!" Wouldn't he now? Wouldn't he?
Hmm... maybe Christians should keep God's plans a secret so Satan doesn't use them to his own ends? Just a suggestion.

What song best epitomizes what keeps you going
by Lady Lee ini know a lot of song threads have been posted but i am interested in what and why a particular song moves you to keep going when you have lost so much.. if possible find the lyrics to the song and post them along with your what song and why it was so important.
as a kid i had an old 78 record player that i had to wind up to play (i did say old.
) there was one old record that had a song by ed ames 'the impossible dream" i was in foster care and had no contact with my family.

Mulan
It's good to see Simon Cowell putting together acts with more culture. I saw Il Divo for the first time on that same show on PBS.
Sadly, it's not likely any of my male friends would be willing to see them live, or even really to listen to them at all. Stupid American, southern machismo. But... I'm sure I could dig up some gals that would be willing to drool over them while I enjoy the talent. Brigid?
