after years of research, i think i've finally come across the biggest hole in the basic doctrine of jw's .

they say that there is no hell...but that you can live for eternity in a world full of nothing but witnesses.... .

...i'm not sure, but i think this statement contradicts itself??????

The premise that man is sinful by nature, that civilization and the individual cannot "progress" (whatever that means) without fear-induced restriction of natural instincts. This is actually shared by many more than just the JWs.

My Journey - not a goodbye

i've had a confusing journey and a lot of different things have happened in my life.

now i have a girlfriend and were looking for a home together - we make each other happy and just as i left the witnesses, church and other things behind i am now at a stage where forums play a smaller role.. .

this isn't a goodbye but this is kinda like a recognition saying to folks thank you for your help and support and that although i wont be online forums at much (for the time being at least while i sort things out) i will be lurking the odd time and with the odd post.

Congrats on the GF. Be careful though. Keep your finances seperate. I know you might be tempted to share them, "if we really love and trust each other we should share everything!"

The reality of it can be very sobering. Things change.

You might keep a checking account you share for bills. You transfer $$ in as does she, and you pay shared bills from that. But keep your primary stash only accessible by you.

And, if I can make a more general recommendation, there is a little book called The Richest Man in Babylon you should read. It has been of enormous help to me regarding how to handle finances.

The premise is false, making the rest irrelevant, that there is "false religion" since there is not such a thing as "true religion". It's a binary logic system that bears little resemblance to reality, which is fuzzy and subjective.

I'm sure many of us, most of us, know precisely what you mean...

Don't be too impatient with yourself. It will take time. I've been out for fifteen years. And while most of my life has reached a level of normalcy, there are still things I find I have to deal with directly related to my having spent the first 18 years of my life enslaved to the WBTS.

My point being, there is hope, but it takes time and work. You are not alone, not by a long shot.
