  TO THE ELDERS: LEAVE US ALONE!!!

  the local needs part dealt with this need.

  too many are saying we don't want to confide in the elders and let them shepherd us.

  perhaps, if the elders realized that they are nothing but a pain in the butt, they would just leave everybody alone!

  What an Anointed sister Said to me…

  i cannot say how i got this info.

  but this anointed sister was talking with my friend and me over the phone.

  my friend informed me that she was an anointed sister and she was thrilled that she was calling us.

  Nice Guys Vs. Jerks.

  i'll tell you guys something, being nice doesn't get you anywhere in this world.

  being nice gets your heart broken, gets you walked all over, and taken advantage of.

  whenever someone sees you as a nice guy, they'll see you as a person they can take advantage of, and you'll let them because you're nice..

  Wasted 4 years of my life with Lord of the Jerks. Then, I met my husband and he stole me from him..*cueing the theme from Love Story* lol He is the nicest man I have ever known. He has always put me on a pedestal and spoiled me rotten. He's wonderful and "a nice guy" and he is who taught me how to love.

  I think you're right about young girls going for jerks. But, if they're like me, they hopefully grow out of it and seek a REAL man.....translation-a nice guy. When I think of the loser jerk, I feel nothing but contempt for him now. He never married or had any children and has lived a lonely medicated life(remember Desperado?-that's HIM) My nice guy has made me very happy and made life extra, Xtra special.

  But honestly, maturity was the key to my decision.

  Is politeness out of style?

  many years ago people seemed more polite to woman, by tipping their hats or holding a door open to let them in.

  even in busses, men gave their places if a woman was standing.

  does a person look stupid if he is too polite today compared to years ago?.

  I've noticed the problem with the door holding and I'm female. I hold the door open everytime I'm in that position and recently I held it open for 2 different women and neither said thank you. It may not be a male/female thing. Some women are just rude bitches, plain and simple.

  Well, isn't this a fine howdy do?! I'm glad the brother's at Bethel have such a great time several times a year at their LARGE elegant gatherings. I have never heard anything about such events. Why don't they let the rank and file hear about these fun times so they too can be encouraged to plan more recreation in the congregations instead of the usual mantra of "do more"?

  What's Wrong With Mother's Day? I Forgot.

  okay, maybe i'm getting old or maybe it's because i have been an exjw for going on 10 years now, but i can't remember what's up with jws and mother's day.

  i remember my mother going with another sister to my brother's classroom for some mother's day pageant back in the 60's when we lived in alaska.

  there is also a commandment in the bible about "honor your father and your mother.

  I refused to attend my brother- in-laws funeral because a priest conducted the service. I also did not go to my brothers wedding because it was in a church.

  Tell me I didn't come off as some kind of heartless freak to family and old friends!

  What is wrong with my family?

  i love my family.

  but i've been stressed and depressed because of them.

  and i just need to gain some understanding.. being raised in a jw family laid alot of pressure and guilt on me.

  What were your parents and grandpa doing when they were 22 years old? I bet they had more responsibility and freedom then they want to allow you now. Did they have family telling them that they were just a child who doesn't know what's good for themselves and someone guilting them into submission?

  Try to start becoming independent and take more control of your life. It's difficult with family who have mastered the art of manipulation, I know. Unfortunately, this will probably continue until you can move out and be on your own so maybe you can begin thinking about how you can do this. Sorry, I wish I had better advice.

  I take it you're not going to NY to take the Bethel tour?

  Daddy long legs..a cruel and unusual punishment

  when i was a kid we used to catch daddy long legs and throw them into spiders webs on the trees outside...then when the spider had finished of the dllegs we would throw the spider into a bigger spiders web and watch them battle it out....sick huh, i kinda like these things now so couldnt hurt em but any insect that used to come into contact with us had a cruel existence.

  anyhow i just heard that the most poisonous insect of all insects is daddy long legs.

  just an interesting something that i thought i would share before i go a swatting .

  Does anybody remember seeing an old "Night Gallery" episode of a man who had an earwig enter his ear and cause him excrutiating pain and torment? After he suffered terribly, he eventually felt better but would discover that the earwig had laid eggs and he would soon be in store for much, much more torment?? Yikes, that freaked me out. lol

  Now Brummie, I remember reading somewhere that the first indicator of a future serial killer is the torturing of animals as a child. I hope that insect torture isn't the actual FIRST indicator.
