  Why do so many refer to Elders as "window washers"?

  i know the society is against higher education and the pursuit of careers but in my experience the elders in the various congregations i attended had good careers.

  in fact most had their own businesses.

  thinking back of the boe when i was a teenager this is what they had as a career: two were respected carpenters who owned a construction business, one a high school teacher(he was the po), one sold insurance and was a lawyer, one owned a landscaping business and also hired sisters to clean office buildings and other accounts he had, one was retired, and the last was a janitor for the school board.

  I was a Elder and a window washer/janitor and half the brothers in

  my KH, (1970's-1980's...Making $25-$45 bucks an hr. was good

  money in those days...

  why dont more elders leave?

  For me I wanted to make it to the top (elder) as soon as possible,

  I wanted to know what was going on. Made it in three years and

  begain my doubts, didn't care for the idea that friends (RF) govern

  their lives around what I told them. Should I allow my baby daughter(2 mos)

  to receive blood, that did it for me..The child died...

  My baby brother (elder). Me and my other two brothers (non JW) have

  travel the world. They (older brothers) served in the Navy, me in

  the Army.. Baby brother, never been to a foreign country. Me and

  my older brothers have worked in different jobs over the years, we were

  athletes in high school, baby brother couldn't make the team in high school.

  Baby brother first job, box boy in a supermarket, he retired form

  the supermarket as a cashier. Don't get me wrong, he was a A student.

  The WT got to him at an early age, he made his mark there. The power,

  prestige and etc. He is no longer "what's the younger brother name".

  He will never leave, he made a name for himself in Jehovah's world.

  Convention Hotel "list"- Free rooms for JW/WT "dignitaries"?

  in all my years of being a jw, one of the more annoying aspects to me was each year sitting through the service meeting review part about what was expected (see: demanded) behavior and policies that the rest of us rank and file were ordered to comply with to attend a district convention.

  the minutia in this part and the over-reaching set of rules were enough to drive me into a lather of rage at the audacity of these people thinking they could and should control every single aspect of my attendance to this "free" and voluntary convention.

  from what clothing i can wear on my trip to and from the convention city, to what clothing i can wear before and after each day of the convention, to what i should be doing after each day instead of eating dinner and enjoying some good times with good friends, to insisting on wearing a ridiculous name badge, to what i should eat for lunch and where i should eat lunch and what is the appropriate container to keep my lunch in, to .................. the list is endless!!!!!!!!

  If they book rooms at the Casino's they would get great rates,

  but the bad part no one would show up at the convention

  or it would be a one time deal..LOL

  That would be a funny sight....

  i mean " courting" certainley sounds more dignified than " hanging out with a new squeeze".

  " comely" is a word i think should be used more often".

  i am going to try and use " jabberwockey" in a sentece today.. anyway do you have any favourite words, in any language?.

  opportunity to use it. LOL

  to exhibit great powers..Apparently a lot of folks believe we

  only use 10% of out brain...I guess they believe we will

  use the other 90% of our brain in the New System...

  A shaved Head

  my wife complained along time that i let my hair grow to long (i don't belive in this anyway) but to make peach i asked her to buzz my hair 4 months ago.... shorter... shorter... let me shave the rest.. it' been shaved since then and i like the yul brynner look.. i feel like pharoah...j.k. at the kh few have questioned... i mean im hardly breaking 1 corinthians lol.

  as for wordly styles this style is almost what a certian governing body member has.... and they know it... they hate sanderson!.

  now i have since experiance the sun on my head in summer...feels good... my wife liking it now.... .

  My JW brother painted the little hair he had left on his head for years, now he

  look like Steve Harvey, bald...Some guys don't have the head for a

  shaved head. A few patches here and there is not a good look, cut it

  all off. My head stay so cool now and plus the saving, I have cut or

  shaved my hair for years..Takes me 10 min..LOL

  the collapse of large parts of the ice sheet in west antarctica appears to have begun and is almost certainly unstoppable, with global warming accelerating the pace of the disintegration, two groups of scientists reported monday.. the finding, which had been feared by some scientists for decades, means that a rise in global sea level of at least 10 feet may now be inevitable.

  the rise may continue to be relatively slow for at least the next century or so, the scientists said, but sometime after that it will probably speed up so sharply as to become a crisis.. this is really happening, said thomas p. wagner, who runs nasas programs on polar ice and helped oversee some of the research.

  theres nothing to stop it now.
