There are many different things that can trigger a person leaving. Being unhappy within the organisation is a common one. Just make sure that you research the doctrine anyway, so as to come to a good understanding on why the Watchtower Society is a damaging religion. Otherwise you may find you continue to carry some of the residual fear and guilt, or may at some later point in time consider returning.

why i left the witnesses..
by new hope and happiness ini have recently been thinking about this as it was a big life changing decision.
only now do i realize it wasnt about doctrine.. the reason was because i wasnt happy and didnt respect the elders and the congregation was made up of unhappy people.. i was always being lectured for being happy.
when i had a study that came to the meeting i thought thats a good thing, and i was happy.

Welcome. Your story is very similar to mine, just I was lucky enough to beat you out by a few years and, having gotten over the first few rough years of being d/f, now enjoy an amazing life free from all the JW nuttery.

I didn't set out to be 0% Jehovah's Witness on the test and am a bit surprised, but can't say it is too upsetting. No wonder being one was so depressing.

Since Great Crowd has no mediator
by sosoconfused ini am thinking that maybe i missed this discussion or something.
now for years in the org i never ever paid attention to the article that says jesus is the mediator for the 144000 alone.
yesterday talking to my 70+ year old dad he got violently angry with me and threw his cane at me because he said i was a liar.. .
-

http://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/mediator.php explains the topic.
Only the 144,000 get Jesus as a mediator of the new covenant. The Great Crowd don't get a mediator, they just get Jesus as a high priest, to apply the Ransom to them.

ANOTHER DISHONEST QUOTE FROM CHRIST'S BROTHERS!
by DATA-DOG inthey " evidently " have not learned their lesson.

Island Man, Acts 4:12 is referring to Jesus, not YHWH.
11 Jesus is
ββthe stone you builders rejected,
which has become the cornerstone.β [ a ]12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.β
Also, you are taking point 1 of the quote in isolation from point 2. Together the quote was stating that since Jehovah is an inaccurate rendition, and the use of YHWH was discontinued for good reason by Christian times, then the correct course is to follow the early Christian example and not use it today either.

DataDog, that is a great find that I will add to Misquotes, Deception, Lies.
Phizzy - " the WT claim that "Apostates" got at the N.T after the death of John and removed the Name."
It is a good point that they make such a claim with no proof of it being removed. Since the Watchtower has added the word Jehovah in place of Lord in Romans, where Jesus was being referred to, it is the Watchtower that really could be referred to as apostate or AntiChrist.
Romans 10:13 "For "everyone who calls on the name of Jehovah will be saved.""

Whatever happened to the Watchtower equating the UN with the wild beast, or JWs thinking they were to be no part of the world?

Stillin - So wouldn't you WANT your religion, if it believed this way, to go through channels and work it out with authorities?
You would if you belonged to a normal religion. The thing with the Watchtower is that it claims to be politically neutral. A religion that prides itself with not being involved in the politics of the world cannot get involved in political lobbying. It is hypocritical to forbid members to be involved in politics, but allow the organisation itself to be involved.
In democratic countries there are three main political aspects:
- Executive - General administration of state bureaucracy
- Legislative - Create and maintain laws
- Judiciary - Court system for interpretation and application of the law
Whilst all three tiers are critical to the governing of a country, the Watchtower is against the Executive aspect more-so than the Judiciary and Legislative functions. Whilst against influencing the Executive function through the election of representatives, they have not shied away from political lobbying as a form of influence.

Is forensic evidence a "witness" for chid abuse cases?
by jwfacts ini have read that forensic evidence can be counted as one of the two required "witnesses" for child abuse cases, however have not seen anything in writing to support this.
the wikipedia article at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/jehovah's_witnesses'_handling_of_child_sex_abuse states:.
dna evidence, medical reports, or information from forensic experts or police that proves sexual abuse is also accepted as a valid "second witness", however critics argue that, without mandatory reporting for all accusations of abuse regardless of the local laws, such evidence could remain undetected.. .

Thanks for the extra comments. With the calibre of people answering not being aware of any guidelines regarding forensic evidence, it seems highly unlikely that any formal guidelines have been released to elders regarding this.
Band on the Run - Knowing the Witnesses, I do believe there is databank of sexual offenders within the org.
There has been a lot of discussion around whether the silent lambs accusation of a database containing thousands of names is correct. I have no doubt that there is such a database. The official guideline is that every accusation globally needs to be reported to bethel. As with information on JWs disfellowshipped, Bethel archives all this information.

At what age can a JW be baptised in the UK?
by jwfacts ini just received an email from an unbaptised publisher that made the following comment;.
in the uk the age of consent by law for a child is 16 and only then can they be baptized of their own free will.
is anyone aware of jws that have been baptised younger than 16 in the uk?.

Slimboyfat - What do you mean by "age of consent"?
Good question. Since the person tied baptism and consent together I thought it was a UK law. Looking further, age of consent is tied to sex and marriage. I did find this interesting article about an athiest having his baptism as a child removed, due to being too young to consent, but it did not stage what age baptism and consent can be tied together.
