It is based on the Eisegesis interpretative approach that the Watchtower is so fond of. Since 6000 years happens to fall with the timeframe of Watchtower history, then it is a convenient interpretation to say the end must be now, plus 1000 years equal 7000 years. Then make it seem legitimate by saying seven is Jehovah's favourite number. If we were 4000 years since the creation of Adam, then you could guarantee the Watchtower would not have said a creative day is 7000 years.

What is the biblical justification for says that a creative days is 7000 years ?
by trackregister99 inhello, what is the biblical proof of that a creative days is 7000 years.
i read in the photodrama that russell says that a creative days is 7000 years.
and in 1965 edition of "make sure of all things" page 134 that was changed from "7000 years" to "about 7000 years".. the bible not says the duration of a creative day.

GypsySam - JWFACTS, is your dad still in and on the HLC? Sorry if off topic, but I am curious. I've been trying to find info on the group of JW's that was for blood reform. Their site seems to be MIA.
My father died 2 years ago. He was only 64.
http://www.ajwrb.org/ is down at the moment. I'm not sure when it will be back up, but soon I hope, as it was filled with great information.

What's in it for them? (GB)
by SyntaxError1974 inif the wbts is just another business?
then what do the gb get out of all this?.
tim cook (ceo apple) makes around 378 million a year.. donald trump makes around 60 million a year.. i understand the wbts may have vast property holdings, stocks, bonds, and revenue from donations.. but i can't grasp the incentive for the gb to make this stuff up.

Don't overlook that they drink their own koolaid. Just like most good salesmen, they believe their own hype. They spent a lifetime of indoctrination and climbing the corporate ladder. Whilst they are more aware than most of the faults with the religion, they have more to lose than most, and hence suffer cognitive dissonance even moreso than the average JW.

Bells - How many people here on this board were still 'in' at 18 - however were lucky enough not to have to face this life or death decision before you got older and woke up?
Excellent question. I was a true believer at 18, and my father was on the Hospital Liaison Committee, telling me all the biased information that he was receiving from the Watchtower about how blood causes people to die, and blood has not been proven to have saved a single life. If an emergency had arisen, I would have been just as this poor boy.

sunday dinner with mom was a hoot...too bad she is sooooo brainwashed.....
by Lied2NoMore ini went to meeting sunday with the family to sit thru drivel of public talk and wt.
i actually held a wt and followed along!
like most here was able to pick out all the lies, deceptions and utter rediculousness of wt trying to say..."we didn't have it right before and we admitt it, but boy, we sure got it right now, even though we never have had anything right before".....you know....so fast forward to dinner with my sadly very mentally ill mother, who for lack of any intellect in the past was a very emotionally, mentally and physically abusive to me and my siblings, and a mental specimen of exactly what wt wants out of its adherents, leans to me and says, "the wt lately has been admitting how they have had things wrong in the past, it really is refreshing to see the changes which tell us how close we are.

She sat back in her chair...thought for an unusually long pause and said.."someone who stops following what the bible says"...
After she had admitted that the Watchtower had it wrong and now is changing things, her definition makes the Watchtower apostate. They had stopped following what the Bible says, and maybe now, this range of changes means they are following the Bible. Then again, based on past performance, probably not.

Similar Religions to Jehovah's Witnesses
by God_Delusion inhi guys,.
i am sort of having a breakthrough with my mother-in-law.
she's not really going to the meetings any longer but still believes the jehovah's witnesses are the "true religion".. in our last conversation, she said the following:.

Many religions do not go to war.
http://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/war.php
All religions are involved in preaching, as conversion is the only way to grow an organisation from an original founder to a group of people. Check out http://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/preach.php for why the concept of going "door to door" as the only acceptable way to preach is misguided.

This is tragic. The boy is 17, and earlier this year the courts ruled that he was to be forced a transfusion. He is back in court trying to prove he is old enough to make his own decision.
There are two points that I think should be made very strongly when commenting on the internet about this situation.
1 - A Jehovah's Witness child is not making their own decision due to a life of one sided indoctrination. To prove if the boy is making an informed decision, he should be questioned on whether he knows the history of blood doctrine within his own religion, and whether he knows the theological reasons that other Christian religions accept blood.
2 - A Jehovah's Witness child has a 2 in 3 chance of leaving the religion at some point in their life. It is not fair that this child may never get the opportunity to re-evaluate his belief system, due to dying under his parents misguided care.

Questions From Readers.... MiracleWheat.... need pdf Newspaper articles...
by Calebs Airplane indoes anyone have any old newspapaer articles in pdf format that cover the miracle wheat scandal?i'd like to debunk this qfr that was sent to me by an active jw after i brought up this scandal to him recently.... watchtower may 15, 1953 page 319:.
questionsfromreaders.
are the charges in a tract against jehovahs witnesses true that the societys first president was immoral, profiteered from selling some mysteriously named wheat at $65 a bushel, and committed perjury when asked in court if he could read greek?

This is very interesting. The QFR states that they were selling for $1 a bushel, yet the newspaper claims it was $60.
Does anyone know if a good write up exists explaining the entire situation? Why was Russell interested in selling Miracle Wheat a year before Aramageddon?
