i made a graph of the new members from 2012 to 2013 in all countries that had positive growth, and graphed them against the country's gdp per capita.. .
the general trend is, as expected, less growth the more money there is in a country.
but there were some unexpected results.
It shows a strong correlation between income and growth. Though there are a number of countries where that is not the case in Asia.
To make it a fair comparison you need to have number of publisher increase against country population, as a percentage. The percentages will be very small, but it will make the comparison more meaningful. As it is, the US looks the same as Brazil, but with almost twice the population it is only half the growth rate.
it seems most of the us growth is in spanish-speaking territory, and of course, there is growth in the nations where spanish is the predominant language.

there seems then to be a great need for translators...for instance, imagine if there was a spanish version of www.jwfacts.com.. unfortunately, i dont speak this language.
I would be very happy to have it translated. A few people have offered but nothing has eventuated, I guess it is overwhelming to tackle alone. If a few people were involved even just doing one article would be enough to start a separate website.
One of the difficulties is with the quotes. Older quotes were just in English, then they started to be released in Spanish but in a later edition of the Watchtower. It is only more recently that the quotes are synchronized. It will be important to note when a quote is a translation from English and when it is from a Spanish edition.

most of the articles in the golden age, at least at the beginning of the anti-vaccination stance, are actually written by contributors.
since there are very pro-vaccination articles and then lots of anti-vaccination articles, how can i determine the actual wt viewpoint on vaccinations?.
The articles and books used to be by named writers. The inclusion shows the Watchtower endorsed the article, unless otherwise stated. I cannot remember when they stopped but think it was about the time of Knorr.

It is good they want to see you sooner rather than later, as you will be stressed until. The conversation is done. I'd recommend reading the article on Helping Someone Leave on jwfacts.com, so that you are prepared to put the conversation back on them. The onus of proof is the person making to outlandish claim that they alone have truth. Then you can briefly explain how each point they make is inaccurate or a logical fallacy. There is also an article on Logical Fallacies on jwfacts that briefly explains why many of the pointa they will raise are based on poor reasoning.
It is unlikely you can change their point of view, but it is liberating to be able to show you have made an intelectual choice and it is them and not you that needs to explain themselves.
They may be coming to tell you they will hand your letter to the elders if you do not recant, and they will then shun you, so be prepared for how to react To that.

Welcome. My advice is not to do anything to drastic, too quickly. Now you know what the problem is, you know there is a solution, so take heart in that. Don't disassociate or talk to others about your faith. Not even your mother. You are unlikely to change her, and telling her your doubts is the surest way to lose her. Slowly fade, go to uni, make new friends, and you will find life gets better for you.

Thanks Barry. Interesting Article and the comments about how SDAs are losing adherents is similar to what is happening to JWs. It is hard to reconcile Prince's sexually infused music with his strong SDA message prior to his conversion. It is also hard to understand then why he converted. In one interview he talks about how JWs simplify truth from traditional church dogma. Yet Adventist doctrine is quite similar to Watchtower doctrine, so that hardly seems the reason for him to switch faith.

Prince was the typical story of being converted when most vunerable. His daughter died shortly after child birth, then his mother (who had become a JW) died, and her dying wish was for him to become a JW.

Ja Rule's comment is great. He hated the religion for how it affected his mother when she was disfellowshipped and all the family shunned her. Yet as soon as he became famous they all start hanging around again. There have been plenty of experiences on JWN of family shunning their disfellowshipped relatives, until they need money, and then they have no problem asking for it.

yesterday, stand for pure worship confessed that he has been trolling jwn, as he has through many incarnations.. it makes me wonder if any of the jw apologists that have posted here over my last two years have been real: scholar, recovery, and so forth..
Londo - it is still worth debating with the trolls. It incites a discussion that gets various enlightening viewpoints. Just don't get too upset by people that make comments on the Internet.
Still, it is better if a person can be honest that they are just playing devil's advocate, as a good discussion can still prevail.
