  Pixar the production company is jealous of Caleb and Sophia video's

  so said the co last night.. apparently a jw was on a flight and just happend to sit next to some big wig from pixar and when the man from pixar heard that he was a jw the pixar man just gushed over what great work that the watchtower has done in producing the caleb video's.

  he siad he only wished pixar could do such great work.

  the co said we are able to do it because we have free labor and jehovah behind us.. my husband stayed home from the meeting but wanted to tie in by phone and that is what the co said in his talk.. the co also talked about all the changes that have happened in the last ten years and how if some of the friends did not like it they needed and to quote him "they just needed to get over it" these changes are going to happned period.

  Why don't JWs see there stories as lies? Most have seen both Pixar and Watchtower cartoons, so must know the story could it be true.

  Women elders, what difference would they make?

  okay, let's do a big what-if: suppose the gb for its own unfathomable reasons suddenly got new light (tm) and decided to start appointing women elders and ministerial servants.

  they would, of course, refer to the examples of junia (apostle), and priscilla and phoebe (deaconesses in wordlyspeak) in the greek scriptures; never mind what mental somersaults it would take to get them there.

  stranger things have happened in wt history.. that being the case, would having women in positions of real authority make any significant difference in the congos or in the borg as a whole, and why or why not?.

  Great question and great answers.

  If it was my hardcore JW mother answering she would say, "Women could not be elders. There would be too much crying, and emotional, irrational decisions made." I guess that is a good indication of how beaten down she was by Watchtower doctrine. It is interesting to see that the answers here do not touch on that but rather it depends moreso on the individuals than the sex.

  this is definitely not a thing where media is paying more attention, they are definitely on the rise.

  too bad the gb didn't think of foretelling that years ago haha.

  i have only 2 theories, 1 is perhaps it's due to pesticides and acid rain, and if that is the case, then it will get real bad.

  Have you got any supporting evidence? It may seem that way due to the expansion of cities, but is it more common? Many sink holes have been the result of thousands of years of erosion.

  It is probable that the removal of oil, water and fracking may also be having an affect.

  PHIZZY The vague relevance to this Site is, with China becoming the major World Power economically, and probably not far behind militarily, how does that fit in to the WT/JW.Org interpretation of scripture ?

  Good question. China does not figure in JW interpretation, and barely in the Bible, which is a huge oversight. China has been very dominant on a global scale through all of history, and as I child I remember asking my mother why they were not mentioned in the Bible. She said that the Bible was only interested in event surrounding the Seed Jesus, and hence the Middle East. However, that is little comfort when 1/3 of the planet is Asian and in line for destruction at Armageddon, yet seemingly of little relevance the JWs.

  The problem I have is when somebody deny's a universal moral absolute then at the same time, judges somebody elses moral opinion [be that sexual or otherwise]

  The problem with such a statement is that no one knows what that universal moral absolute is. The morals of the Bible differ dramatically between books, and particularly between the Old and New Testament. Christian religions cannot agree on what that absolute moral is, and even the Watchtower changes its definitions of morals on a constant basis, despite all claiming to rely on the same basis of morals.

  Without a universal absolute, we have no foundation to say that Pedophilia is or isnt wrong. Its simply an action prompted by the emotions of one or both parties involved.

  Actually, science is in the best position to determine if pedophilia is wrong or not. It can study the effects and provide a reasoned answer on the damage of each particular aspect. The morality that is formed by religion is based on the ever changing beliefs of the prevailing culture at the time.

  Some modifications (mainly at the data level) and one could generate "Awake!" quite readily, making about as much sense as it now does.

  To make it sound like an Awake you would have to replace all the 4 syllable words with 2 syllables.

  Shouldn't the WTBTS have more than 7 million followers after 140 years of preaching?

  after 140 years of preaching and millions of books, magazines, and tracts, all the wtbts has to show is a measly 7 million members.

  the mormons, baptists, pentecostals and many other religions have more members without the preaching work.. in your opinion, is 7 million members way too many for all the odd beliefs, doctrines and practices ?

  or, should be more members since they have had over 140 years of being in the religion business?.

  well after an almost 4 year sucessful fade including a move, they found me.

  i was not home at the time, but they were asking all sorts of questions about me and my family, who lives where etc.

  of course it was one of the busybody families in my former congregation.

  Saying nothing is the best policy. You cannot be disfellowshipped for being inactive, but can for apostasy, and discussing any doubts you have will earn you that label. If they come back and ask how you are going the answer is simply, "I'm fine, I will see you at a meeting when I am ready." They will ask if they can help, and just keep saying, you are fine and there is nothing you need at the moment.

  They may get belligerent and say you are risking everlasting life, and how you won't see your parents in the new system. Do not fall for that trap. Just keep repeating that everything is ok. Their attitude may make you angry, and your pride may make you want to stand up for yourself, but there is nothing to gain from talking back to them, and your parents to lose.

  Great find, what total hypocrisy. The following quote shows how the great crowd need to be united with the 144,000 (JW saints as it were) to benefit from the mediator.

  "They recognize that they are not spiritual Israelites in the new covenant mediated by Jesus Christ, nor part of the "chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation."-1 Pet. 2:9. Yet they do benefit from the operation of the new covenant. They benefit from this just as, in ancient Israel, the "alien resident" benefited from residing in among the Israelites who were in the Law covenant.-Ex. 20:10; Lev. 19:10, 33, 34; Rev. 7:9-15.
