How is denying a child the joy of birthdays, when there is no logical Scriptural reason not to celebrate ones birth, a nice experience?

A Nice Story.
by Wrath of Jehu infriends.. i'm sure you will all be encouraged by this nice story related to me by a brother in my old congregation.
4 year old "jana" (not her real name), is from a witness family in a middle sized city.
she has faced many challenges in her pre-school class.

8TH KING RISING
by CharlieSmith1975 inper jws the un is the scarlet-colored wild beast that becomes the 8th king just before armageddon.
it is interesting to see how the un is becoming more and more an authority in the world with obama clearly the leader and supporter of globalism.
plus obama is always saying "peace and security.

In another 500 years there will still be superstitious people making these doomsday predictions. It is a sad part of human nature to think/hope some sort of doomsday will occur magically in their own lifetime.

by hoser inwhen i meet up with a jay dubya i've never met before and the conversation inevitably turns to "so where did you learn the truth?
i reply" my parents joined the jehovahs witness religion in 1982".

I refer to it as "the religion," "the Watchtower religion" or "the Jehovah's Witness religion." Religion is exactly what it is, yet it really iritates JWs.

I think they're doing a good thing....you guys need to cut them some slack.
The Watchtower deserves as much slack as they give to worldly people - none. They usually receive a lot more than that.

Dealing with a hangover.
Haha, hangovers are there to remind you of how great the previous night was.
The irony is, having been a JW for 20 plus years and out now over ten, I have never seen so much alcoholism and financial strain, let alone porn and sex issues than IN the JW religion ... Ironically the watchtower here is potraying a young JW man ......
That really is the case. JW's are no better off than those in the world. There were many unplanned pregnancies and alcoholics at the halls I went to.

Looking back to what happened since sept 2012... i must say its brilliant !
by insidetheKH inwho thought in the early months of 2012 that such a rebranding would take place in only a matter of 24 months?.
they managed to go from an antique looking and boring website (watchtower.org) with hardly any attractive content to go to a fresh looking new website with stuff for everyone, families, children, teenagers.. movies, and short videos about almost everything and new ones added every month.
cartoons, animation video's , interviews, picture activities all kind of projects, many audio files like dramatic bible readings, dramas and music, online research tools, new brochures for kids (off and online) etc.

Nothing progressive is reskinning a website. What I think is amusing was raised at http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/286280/1/grazy-link-on-JW-ORG
They are using Roku, a "worldly" ondemand service that is used by other religious organisations, such as Mormons. I'm surprised they haven't developed their own platform, so that there is something else for them to sell to the flock, and they can keep them away from the temptation to view other programs.

How funny, they are using a standard streaming service that is used by other religious organisations, such as Mormons. I'm surprised they haven't developed their own platform, so that there is something else for them to sell to the flock, and they can keep them away from the temptation to view other programs.

Coming out to the closet to your family as an "apostate". Any experiences? Your input would be greatly appreciated.
by im_free inso it's been about 10 years since i have faded out and have stopped believing in the jw teachings.
since then, i have accepted jesus and have experienced an amazing tranformation in my life and have been freed from the jw prison mentally and spiritually.
a more detailed thread about my journey is here if you are interested.. anyways, my jw family lives in another state so they are unaware that i am no longer "in the truth" since i have not told them.

Oubliette - We tell them they're in a cult. They deny it and shun us thereby proving our point, yet they fail to see this.
That is what happens in the majority of cases, and since your mother is strong, it is what will happen to you.
If you don't like living a lie, just tell them that you are inactive. Don't say why, no matter how much they push you. It they assume you are just weak, then they can have the hope you jump back in just before Armageddon. If you show them you believe something else, they will classify you as an apostate and view you are dead to them, not just now but eternally.

It is a flaw in their theology. The gentile times ended in 1914, and Jesus began ruling, but only in heaven. The 1000 years don't begin until after Armageddon. So there is no real benefit or anything discernible about the end of the gentile times. It only really made sense if the new system arrived as originally expected in 1914
