Spot on. I would never have called my father by his first name, that would have been very disrespectful. Neither is Jesus ever recorded as using God's name, but rather terms like father.

Faulty Reasoning to Promote God's "Name"
by Dissonant15 inas i am newly awoken, i am daily having epiphanies & revelations now.
i've been casually wondering to myself since the propagandist broadcast about the name "jehovah" if it would be more proper to call him "yahweh" to myself.
well tonight the answer suddenly came to me: it doesn't matter.

New Geoffrey Jackson statement on Royal Commission's webpage!!!!!!!!!!!!
by Viva la Vida incheck his signature... it looks kind of childish/feminine (at least in my part of the world)... is this a grown man's signature for you?.

Conveniently omitting the OT passages that mention female judges like Deborah...
Very important point.
Also with the discussion on Deuteronomy 22, typical Watchtower reasoning. This reasoning follows normal Watchtower process of introducing doctrine with a "clearly, no doubt, we will assume, a true christian would realise ...." They basically say let us assume the two witness rule was to be followed, such as he confessed.

Hot New Ford GT, and the GB!!
by DwainBowman inok, i was reading a story about fords new ford gt, one hot extreme muscle car.
the story tells about how a car like this normally takes 6 or more years from, first scratches on paper to finished project.
their small handful of specialist, pulled it off in 2. and right until it was finished, no one out side of the small circle of people (about 25 people ) really knew anything, except something special was in the works!.

I remember being in awe of quick build kingdom halls. Then I read about a sheik building a huge building with thousands of workers working 24 hours a day, and realised anyone with enough determination can pull of monumental tasks. -

Do you find it hard to be around active JW's now?
by EdenOne ini do - actually, it's become close to unbearable.. and herein lies the paradox: i tried to fade in the illusion that i might keep contact with family and friends still "in".
was it worth it?
because not only most of them shun me anyways, but i find it almost unbearable to be around them, especially when the cult chit chat kicks in: every cute animal video clip triggers endless comments about glimpses of the future paradise and how "god did it"; those greasy praises to the organization and the governing body; the dumb awe about every jw broadcast and those cheesy music videos; the endless drivel against other religions when one knows perfectly well that we're no better than them; the endless flow of "experiences" of field service or spectacular conversions into "the truth"; the relentless congregation gossip; and so on .... i ask myself: is this why i am fading for ...?

Great observation. The few times I have been around a JW I realise I cannot bear to listen to the tripe that they discuss. The other issue is that it is pointless having a meaningful discussion, as they do not have opinions, but simply recite what they have been told to believe about things. -

This is normal for August globally. The service year runs from September to August, so they try to get everything in August that is missing from the previous months so as to push the average up. It also helps provide for a potential peak publisher increase. -

Largest amount of refugees since WW2 in Europe
by Powermetal4ever inso i had a discussion with my mother about this, and she claims that because of this that: "we are surely living in the last days right now" while i must admit myself that the situation seem chaotic, i don't want to believe that it is the last days.
so question is, how do i face an opinion like that?

As the others have said, have your father read some history. Or just read the Bible. The world has been in a state of constant warfare. -

Wife Equates Having A Good Marriage With Being "Spiritual"
by JW_Rogue inso i've noticed lately that my wife seems to think that in order to have a good marriage both people must be "spiritual".
she thinks being close as a family is all about family worship night, field service and praying together.
i know where these ideas are coming from but it is very hard to combat them.

She needs to meet happy families that are not JWs. The perception about worldly people is usually based on lack of experience. -

Evolutionists Who Are Against Darwinism
by Perry inthis is a nice list of evolutionary scientists and their quotes regarding the impossibility of naturalism or materialism being able to account for life as it is observed :.
evolutionists against darwinism.
most, while sympathetic and respectful of their more committed colleagues, are disparaged as morons for not carrying the materialism banner as a religion, as a matter of faith.

Perry, you seem critical of evolutionists not all holding to an identical understanding. Isn't the situation far worse amongst religious people? Despite theists often claiming to communicate with God, they are scores of different understandings of who he is, or how many Gods exist, inciting such passion to invoke wars. Even Christians cannot agree on who God is or the nature of God. That is a bigger problem for you to be concerning yourself with than the fine tuning of a recent scientific theory.

What Qualifications does Geoffrey Jackson have as a Translator of the Bible ? In any Capacity ?
by smiddy ingeoffrey jackson left school at the age of 15 and began pioneering , he never attended a university ,never studied ancient greek ,hebrew or aramaic at any recognized teaching academy , he has no certificates or credentials / qualifications from any place of learning that is approved by a competent body of religious instruction .. and by his own words at the australian royal commission , under oath he stated that was his primary role as a translator of scripture into other languages .. a 15 year old drop out from school in australia is the chief/ prime translator of the bible for jehovah`s witnesses world wide in their many languages that they preach in .. it would be very interesting to see his report cards for those few years he did attend school .. is it just me , or does anybody else see that his qualifications don`t come up to scratch to be a translator of the old testament or the new testament scriptures , and be taken seriously as a translator of either , into any language.. if i am wrong anywhere in this post feel free to correct me .. smiddy.

His discussion at the RC about "the rod" was totally wrong, both according to the original text and Watchtower interpretation of Proverbs. -

what happens when one informs elders that one's baptism was invalid?
by quincemyles inis it possible to move from baptized publisher to unbaptized status perpetually?
what do elders do when you inform them that your baptism was invalid?

I have known of a couple of cases, but it is very unlikely to work for most people.
In one case, the person was gambling before and after baptism. They pleaded the case that they had not been baptised with the correct understanding, and got baptised again.
The second one was a person with mental illness that was engaged in wrongdoing before and after baptism. It was decided that due to her circumstances the baptism had never been valid and they just let her leave.
I unsuccessfully tried the get an annulment. The results are here http://jwfacts.com/watchtower/experiences/grundy.php.
