Originally the Watchtower was undecided on the Trinity, with different views held by different writers. The current doctrine is simplistic and flawed. The Bible is supportive of Binitarianism, and there is logic behind the development of the Trinity. http://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/trinity.php discusses this towards the end of the article.

Has the Governing Body ever been right?
by Jules Saturn ini asked this question to a relative after mentioning several situations where teachings were changed or readjusted (new light) and they have two reasons.
yes, they are correct because look at how the preaching work has grown through the decades and the advancements in witnessing and the second reason was the doctrine of the trinity and how the society opposes that.
i didn’t really have a response, especially for the trinity doctrine.. does the governing body have the rejection of the trinity belief correct?.

Could the ancient Jews eat pig fractions?
by JeffT inthe recent threads on blood fractions got me to thinking about ways to expose the absurdity of the watchtower's position on blood.
so i thought of the titular question.
would a hebrew have understood the prohibition on pork as meaning he had to avoid "major" pig fractions (ham, bacon, ribs) but "minor" pig fractions like pickled feet and fried pork rinds were ok?

Sisig is a Filipino dish that I love, made up of ground pig face. I think that could be considered an allowed minor fraction.
FORNICATION FRACTIONS:" I only penetrated her half way!"
Just the tip.

The 2018 World Cup - will it stop a nasty aspect?
by The Fall Guy inthe world cup in russia is being used to launch v.a.r.
- video assistant referee.
it will be very interesting to see if/how it affects the almost obligatory cheating offences of pulling/pushing which occur every time players are in each other's penalty area.

This has been used in cricket for a number of years. Not everyone likes technology changing the flow of such a traditional game, I personally think it is a great addition to the sport. It is not perfect, but over time has been refined and in general leads to fairer decisions.
In the Australia v France match, the VAR was referred to a few times. It didn't seem to slow the play. If fans see multiple replays of an infringement, it is only fair that the referee is also able to double check what happened from multiple angles.

Born ins: did you have "near life experiences"?
by truthseeker ini recently watched the 90s movie fight club for the first time and heard the phrase "near life experience.".
for me, a different definition of this phrase would be someone who grew up in the truth and led a very secluded and restricted life (like me) but on rare occasions actually experienced something that was considered quite normal by most people.. growing up in "the troof" was depressing.
it was characterized by long periods of loneliness.

For some unknown reason, in grade 10, so about 15, I was allowed to go to the end of school party, and then go out the rest of the night with school friends, going to kids houses and hanging out in parks. My friends were getting drunk, there was porn on a video player, some kids kissing. It was one of those teenage coming of age experiences. I was friends with a few of the people in my class, but not socially, and the other kids were used to hanging out. It was so strange, looking in on an amazing world that I so wanted to be part of, just for that brief moment.

I read a non-Watchtower book that indicated it would be around 1 billion people. That was based on population growth algorithms, factoring in the large size of families given in Genesis, and that people lived into their 900's.

How to deal with struggling with the doctrines
by Dval inthis is my first post.
i'm still a jw but am inactive.
im struggling with the fact that i agree with some of the doctrines (i,e, the stance on the trinity, there is no hell) but i disagree with a lot of things (i,e, men can't have beards, women have to wear skirts).

If doctrine is important and the bible is inspired, wouldn't it make sense that doctrine would be clearly discussed in the bible? Yet the bible does not go into doctrine in depth. There is no section such as you would find in an encyclopedia explaining the nature of god or the state of the dead. Instead there are a range of contradictory statements, the result being 35,000 different Christian sects with a whole range of different interpretations on every doctrinal subject.

Join together to buy one of the halls that are closing down and form Jehovah's Angels. PIMO JWs often stay for the social circle and a group like this could fill that void.

I'm intrigued about your background, and why you are asking on this forum.
Prison ministry has really backfired on Jehovah's Witnesses. Conversion has been used to convince parole officers that a person has changed, for an early release, after which a criminal re-offends. I have heard from reliable sources that a number of pedophiles in California joined Jehovah's Witness congregations after release, due to the safety the closed nature of the religion offered them to keep reoffending.

CO asked for everyone 20 years old & younger for a group photo
by LevelThePlayingField inthere was a co visit in ohio a couple weeks ago.
when he was finishing up his sunday talk he said that he would like if "all the children that are from this congregation, not if you're just visiting, but from this congregation to come on up on the stage right after the meeting because i want to get a picture of you.".
i thought to myself, why?

Diogenesister
- What about the book study? Im pretty sure that was moved to KH from private homes due to fear of litigation, we know the rubbish about "cost of fuel"they came up with was a cover.
- Flags in peruvian KHs??? -
- Child protection policy in Aus and UK?Thanks Diogeneisister these are worth adding.
I remember an old brother back in the 60's (when I was a young pup) telling me that before Rutherford had a divine flash from heaven and he unilaterally changed the name to Jehovah's Witnesses, the organization prided itself in not being a "religion" but rather in being a Bible Society. But then the USA tax laws changed (in the 30's?) making religious organizations tax exempt, Miraculously and by divine intervention, new light from above, praise jah, helped the JW 'society' to then registered as the JW "religion" and thereby take advantage of "Satan's wicked system of things"! Sneaky and sly ()and sometimes intoxicated) old Rutherford needed to make sure HIS religion lived on! This old brother had a little inside information on Rutherford because he "served" at Beth-hell in the 30's.
eyesuse2badub - Interesting, I wonder if there is any way to prove the link. I had thought it was just a marketing ploy on Rutherford's behalf.
gone for good, is this link available for you?
Thanks for the link, it will see what I can extract from it.
Are you sure there is any causal link between the Bulgarian case and the doctrinal change on civilian service? That seems like a pretty big assumption. For example, after refusal to register JW in Germanyas public-law corporation due to, inter alia, prohibition on voting, WTS didn't overruled it, despite the fact that the recognition by Germany was much, much more important than registration in Bulgaria.
What time period/event are you referring to in Germany?
The document at https://www.jwfacts.com/images/bulgaria-echr-app-28626-95.pdf specifically mentions medical care and military service when coming to an agreement for registration in Bulgaria. https://www.jwfacts.com/images/bulgaria-press-application-28626-95.pdf discusses the blood issue.
This is also the period of time they were associated with the UN, so there was active political involvement going on. Whilst there was no Watchtower statement admitting the real reason for the UN fiasco, political recognition seems most likely.
