Blood still seems creepy to me but there are life and death situations when blood is the only alternative and so of course i would have a transfusion.
I have written an article about blood for anyone that is still unaware of the real issues at
http://www.jwfacts.com/index_files/blooddoctrine.htm
What is sad about the issue is the deception carried on by the WTS, and not only in the significant and ongoing changes back and forth on what is and is not acceptable. Three main things stand out about the JW stand.
Inaccurate - Most Christian religions understand that there is no longer any prohibition on eating or transfusing blood. For the Watchtower to claim that the current bible standard is that blood must not be eaten or transfused shows a lack of understanding of the scriptural issue.
Inconsistent - The Watchtower states Gods standard is that blood must not be stored, yet Jehovah’s Witnesses can use fractionated blood derived from stored blood.
Hypocritical - Jehovah’s Witnesses use significant quantities of medical products derived from blood, but do not donate to the blood supply.
As an example, an immunoglobulin injection is derived from the pooled blood of up to 60,000 people and requires 3 litres of blood in the manufacturing process. If a Jehovahs Witness is willing to have one of these injections, but will not donate blood then they are hypocritically leaching (pardon the pun) off society.

I found it extemely powerful and almost faith building for my agnostic mind. I realised that as a Witness you miss out on so much of what spirituality is and the power of Christianity. I have a lot more respect for Jesus now.

RACISM Behind 1909 Watch Tower Magazine Name Change
by West70 infrom 1879 through 1908, the magazine owned, operated, and edited by charles taze russell (not the zion's watch tower tract society) was offically named "zion's watch tower and herald of christ's presence".
with several changes caused by the move from pittsburgh to brooklyn to escape maria russell, her lawyers, and the pennsylvania courts, it was decided that the official name of the magazine be changed to "the watch tower and herald of christ's presence".
here are the official reasons for dropping the word "zion's", as stated in the december 15, 1908 issue: .

To include a letter without comment is to lend support to the contents of the letter.
I feel JW's are very open these days to people of all nations, and in doing so are reflecting what the rest of society also believes to be politically correct. However there were a number of Watchtower comments in regards to the superiority of the white race 100 years ago, which was also just a reflection of the attitude of people around. The point; that Holy Spirit did not direct the attitude of the Watchtower writers, they just adopted the misconceptions of the prevailing era. -

Thanks, that is an interesting quote that I had not seen before.
The Org was racist, and claimed that there would be no black people in the New System, that they would turn white with perfection, a bit like Michael Jackson has been doing since the 1980's.
Watch Tower 1904 February 15 pp.52-53 “Can the Ethiopian change his skin?”
“What the Ethiopian cannot do for himself God could readily do for him. The difference between the races of men and the differences between their languages have long been arguments against the solidarity of the human family. The doctrine of restitution has also raised the question. How could all men be brought to perfection and which color of skin was the original? The answer is now provided. God can change the Ethiopian's skin in his own due time. Prof. H. A. Edwards, Supt. of Schools in Slater, Mo., has written for the public press an elaborate description of how Julius Jackson, of New Frankfurt, Mo., a negro boy of nine years, began to grow white in September, 1901, and is now fully nine-tenths white. He assures us that this is no whitish skin disease; but that the new white skin is as healthy as that of any white boy, and that the changed boy has never been sick and never has taken medicines”
I have an article with a range of similar quotes at http://jwfacts.com/index_files/blackskin.htm -

Evolution or creation.....
by searching4? ini know what i was taught from the witnesses in the book evolution or creation, but is this an accurate portrayal of what evolutionists believe?
is it really that black or white?
evolution, meaning that god didn't have a plan, things just happened, or creation, god created adam, the first man?

It is impossible to 'prove' anything. People will take what makes most sense to them and then build on it the information that agrees and discard the information that doesn't, hence two totally different theories (evolution and creation) both have supporters.
There are more than two options, there is an endless amount. Is God the ultimate sovereign, or is this universe just one of many, is god in every cell, every atom, every electron, is the whole universe part of an intelligent brain?
I am saying this to show that you can not dumb things down to a statement that 'either God created everything or it evolved'.
The Evolution book made a point that used to stike me as ulitmate proof that God created everything. It said that the mathematical odds of the correct amount of protons lining up in the correct order to create a cell are 1 to the power of some number larger than all the atoms in the universe, in other words, impossible. What it fails to recognise is that some force could make things line up.
Imagine two magnets. They have a mathematic probability of 50% of lining up north to south. But in reality that have a 100% probability due to magnetic attraction.
We barely have scrapped the surface of all the forces involved. Maybe the creation of life is a force built into everything. Just as every aspects of life imitates a sine wave or yin yang, maybe life and the universe do too, the universe and life evolves and then dies out, only to evolve again.
For a simple JW or fundamentalist that wants a 'there is only one truth' answer, then it is easy to dismiss every theory or fact and say God did it all, and not very long ago. But I personally don't think life is that simple, don't think the answer can ever be known, and don't think it really matters. Fundamentalism creates bigotry, I would much rather base my life on love and acceptance of everyone regardless of what theory they wish to believe. -

If all the Anointed die out it will cause not end of problem to Watchtower doctrine. The F&D slave must be composed of the anointed. The Great Crowd must can only show their allegiance to Jesus by how the treat 'even one of these little ones'. As this system continues to drag on either people will have to continue being anointed, or there will need to be another significant re-write of doctrine.

If she is 77 it is probably best to leave her in peace with what she believes.
At one stage my cong had 9 schitso's. It has had a procession of anointed, some with mental issues, some without, one who was only 18 and normal, but her father thought he was anointed too. It always seemed to me that the security of a high control brotherhood attracted that type of personality.
Since the majority of people believe they will go to heaven it is probably those that think they will live forever on earth that are really the ones with mental problems.

I can't stand that 'hooray another earthquake' thing
by sass_my_frass ini think that motherdarling actually likes to hear about earthquakes, especially the ones that cause a lot of death.
i don't know why she's so excited about terrorist bombings and hurricanes though, they're not mentioned in matthew except for the faint out of fear thing.
i saw a website once with exact stats on eathquakes in the last few centuries and was delighted to learn that they only seem to have increased because of the increased population in areas where they occur and the more sophisticated technology detecting small shudders and movement in seabeds etc.

I have done some research on earthquakes and even contacted some seismologists as part of the process of convincing myself the WTS is not only wrong but dishonest to boot. It is at
http://jwfacts.com/index_files/Page384.htm
From the Encyclopedia Britannica there was a list of statistics on deaths from earthquakes. It stunned me to see that more people died in the 1200's from earthquakes than in the 1900's, despite the huge increase in population. The 1900's did not have the most deaths, did not have the largest earthquake and did not have the most earthquakes.
JW's love to play on the natural disasters theme, purely because it is a religion that thrives off fear and guilt.
