607BC vs 587BC

i got into a discussion with a relative yesterday about 1914 and how the wts calculates the date.

an obvious discrepency is their use of the year 607bc as the date for the destruction of jerusalem.

as far as i know the wts is the only group that uses that date as opposed to the rcognised date 587. according to my aunt 607bc must be the correct date in order for the 70 yeara of slavery prophesy to work out correctly.

One of the most obvious is their removal of the mast head in the pre-year2000 Awake magazines stating Gods Promise to establish the New World Order before the end of the 20th century. Even worse is that it was done without comment from headquarters. Guess they thought/hoped no one would notice.

I don't think I could ever just take a persons word for anything like that. It's just that there are is a very large group of people offering eyewitness accounts. That plus the actual experiments and studies by several renowned scientists make a rather convincing arguement. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not at all familiar with many of the scientists, never even heard of them. There are however quite a few that I am quite familiar with. It's not empirical proof for sure, but that kind of proof is hard to come by. Even evolution cannot be proven empiricly. You gotta admit it is a fascinating read.

Does anyone accept the possibility of life after death yet doesn't believe in God? Since the subject of this thread is belief or non belief in God and if you can only relate life after death with God then check out the attached link. The subject matter is life after death (a complete book) The author presents it as empical proof. I read the entire book and, taken as a whole is pretty dang convincing. If you just gloss over it you probably wont get a lot from it, however if you'll take the time to read the whole thing you will be impressed. It's not a bunch of religious mumb-jumbo; not religious at all. The site you get to is promoting sale of the book, however you can download it in it's entirity. The one for sale is the latest revision and the downloadable one is the prior one.

If you're able to take the time to read the entire book, I'd really like to know what you think. I think it will make a fascinating subject for discussion here It's around 150 pages with a ton of references.

I brought up the subject of the UN scandle and he says that this was the first he has heard of it. Even though a WT elder he's a really straight up guy, so I can't believe he hasn't even heard of the scandal. I thought all the elders had gotten some kind of info from HQ about it. Is this even possible or is he pulling my leg?

my "worldly" husband always told me i was in a cult when we were dating..i didn't believe him.

but, to this day i still don't know why i didn't agree with him.

The problem "cult" is in the definition. It's like "pornography". I know it when I see/hear it, but anything approaching a universal definition is impossible. Your cult/porn is in all likelyhood not my cult/porn.
