what has worked for you.. it is inconceivable to me, that if my mother or father showed me proof of why the wt org is false, that i wouldn't take them seriously, after all they are older and should know better, but it seems there are some of you who have the opposite outcome, where your children think you are misled and senile, and grandparents are surely labeled as senile.
one would reason then, if this were truly the case, that you are 'senile' or demented, then wouldn't that be taken into consideration when having loving contact with your parents?

Billy, when have they given any good advice? In the 70's, it was a sin to engage in oral sex with your wife. How many couples were DF or broken up over this 'wisdom from above'? The latest videos to elders show how to deal with suicidal members...remind them of Job and how hard he had it and give them home work as well. Not one word of seeking professional help! I wonder how many will be adversely affected by this 'inspired' advice.
You are right. One size does not fit all and never will. When will the GB stop over reaching Gods word? Better yet, when will 'the sheep' wake up and start to think for themselves?

in turn, the local elders are "directed by god".
so, how exactly do they suppose this happens?

Very sad there is no transparency when it comes to their decision making. I mean, if the apostles saw fit to write their deliberations over the doctrine of circumcision, then why aren't GB meetings recorded in the same detail...Surely, they decide on far lesser issues.

You are likely correct Wonderment. Very un-Christlike display is shown by the witnesses. When you think about it, JC never had a record of shunning anyone. In fact(something foreign to witnesses), JC did just the opposite...eating with those who had strayed. I believe this gave those lowly ones strength to turn around.
I am sure their absence of empathy from the witnesses and disdain for those who leave comes from a lack of accurate knowledge. They believe and buy the myths that have been delivered in the publications and from the platform.
Perhaps the Lord's example should be the overriding example, rather than cling to Paul's admission in Corinthians?
