  ...that only people from those countries can lead 'his organization'.. a few years ago, one conversation stopper people would often bring up to jws in my country is: 'you guys are an american religion'.

  the standard answer we were formatted to give to shoot that down was that "god does not favor any nationality over others.

  however some countries do possess some advantages needed for the advancement of the divine work.

  The GB publish ideas concocted in bethel and then enforce them worldwide as a "one size fits all" solution.

  Billy, when have they given any good advice? In the 70's, it was a sin to engage in oral sex with your wife. How many couples were DF or broken up over this 'wisdom from above'? The blood issue caused hemophiliacs to reject many clotting factors, that now are allowed under the 'divine inspired' blood percentages. How many died as a result? The latest videos to elders show how to deal with suicidal members...remind them of Job and how hard he had it and give them home work as well. Not one word of seeking professional help! I wonder how many will be adversely affected by this 'inspired' advice.

  You are right. One size does not fit all and never will. When will the GB stop over reaching Gods word? Better yet, when will 'the sheep' wake up and start to think for themselves?

  just as watchtowers in ancient times enabled a person to observe developments from afar, so this magazine shows us the significance of world events in the light of bible prophecies.

  it comforts people with the good news that gods kingdom, which is a real government in heaven, will soon bring an end to all wickedness and transform the earth into a paradise.

  Does anyone have the Awake! January 1 1989? - 20th Century Quote

  the awake!

  january 1 1989 contains the quote on page 12 "he was laying a foundation for a work that would be completed in our 20th century.

  " this was later changed in the bound volume and on the cd library to "in our day.".

  Great thread, you guys! I never knew there were so many changes from hard copy to digital. Shame on them...when a publishing house can change copyright material to fit their dates, they truly lose credibility. 😞

  It is absolutely amazing how the members hold to 607 with the plethora of factual information showing otherwise...it is simply astonishing. 

  How long did they think the date was 606? Then they realized the 0 year existed? ...please. 😔

  HOW EXACTLY does god communicate with or direct the GB?

  we're all familiar with the organisations claims (and have seen the flow diagrams in books and mags) that the gb is "directed by god".

  in turn, the local elders are "directed by god".

  so, how exactly do they suppose this happens?

  C'mon fellas...we all know they vote on 'new lights' and if 2/3 of them think it's good, then it is solidly from God! 😉

  Very sad there is no transparency when it comes to their decision making.  I mean, if the apostles saw fit to write their deliberations over the doctrine of circumcision, then why aren't GB meetings recorded in the same detail...Surely, they decide on far lesser issues. 

  Look how they press on with Warwick, despite being uncertain on Jehovah's will for the project. Great use of donated monies, no?

  reference the link below to the national weather service in apologizing for falsely predicting the severity of a series of storms.

  i wonder if watchtower society will ever apologize for any of their countless false predictions.

  Can you imagine how people on the east coast would have felt if the weatheman above had blamed the public instead? To top it off, he does not even make the predictions in God's name...

  When will the WT apologize? I wouldn't hold your breath...😔

  on the book of hebrews, the believer's bible commentary says regarding those who leave the jewish faith:.

  "now when a jew left the faith of his forefathers, he was looked on as a turncoat and an apostate (meshummed), and was often punished with one or more of the following:.

  You are likely correct Wonderment. Very un-Christlike display is shown by the witnesses. When you think about it, JC never had a record of shunning anyone. In fact(something foreign to witnesses), JC did just the opposite...eating with those who had strayed. I believe this gave those lowly ones strength to turn around. 

  I am sure their absence of empathy from the witnesses and disdain for those who leave comes from a lack of accurate knowledge. They believe and buy the myths that have been delivered in the publications and from the platform. 

  Perhaps the Lord's example should be the overriding example, rather than cling to Paul's admission in Corinthians?

  If the GB were really interested in the preaching work.....

  ......they should be out there where the "need is great" spearheading the work.

  remember now, the preaching work belongs to the annointed, other sheep are just helpers.

  the gb especially should be out there doing it.

  They don't pioneer on their holidays, but 'encourage' everyone under them to do so. Matthew 23:4 comes to mind...
