Just curious...."service, and gas money"

locally on occasion it was the common practice when "in service" to leave gas money for the driver.

i know that the individuals if savvy can get a tax credit for mileage for service (and i was once told mileage to and from public talks could also be included).

what i am curious about is do people still give the driver money for thier trouble?

I remember this slightly older then me regular pioneer had a van, and considered herself the 'paragon' of what young people in the hall should aspire to. So when it came time to split up into car groups she always spoke up first to claim everyone bwt 13 & 19. Then before she would even put her key in the ignition she would come up with a random figure of how much gas money she wanted from each us. Usually bwt $2 -$5 a piece! with 6-7 people in the van she always had a small lunch at break time instead of us poor suckers that were stuck with pooling our remaining money to get a pack of timbits!

this is my first time on this web site.

i learned about it from my mom who also posts here.

i used to be a jw but was (thankfully) never baptized, and because of that (the fact that i am no longer a jw) it has kept me from talking to my grandmothers, some of my uncles, and my aunts and also some of my cousins.

It sounds like she might already know the answers to her questions. I commend you for being able to go thru with it, I know that I wouldn't be able too. It's amazing the amount of guilt that our mothers feel intitled to give us isn't it?
