how many have recieved calls by the elders that were under the guise of "shepherding", but somehow inappropriate, i.e, you were a woman alone with only one elder showing up, or you felt physically intimidated by both.
or say they show up at like, 10:30 at night for a shepherding call.
and you say "hey, i appreciate the visit but please call first!
As a teen if I was at a fellow JW's house ( dad was an elder ) I was always sat down and counseled in regards to my behaviour. I also once got invited to supper at a friends house only to get there and find an elder waiting to "lead us back to the truth"
Never once came to my house though OR contacted my parents with what they wanted to counsel me about.

so my brother and i have been having talks about what will happen when our dad passes away eventually.
most of his brothers and sisters have died in their 50's or early 60's.
i flat out refuse to attend any part of the service that would be done at the kingdom hall.
I would attend only if it was a close family member. I would not go alone.
The only reason would be respect for my family.

It comes down to this: If I knew I could find someone this pure in my life again, it would probably be easy to walk away. But I dont know if it will ever happen again. Sometimes you only get one shot at the gold and if you miss, you will have to settle.

Buck ~ I hope this doesn't come across as too harsh, but she has proved herself to have unpure reasons for wanting you to get baptized. It's not for your spirtual well fare, it's so she can get married to you and not be shunned by her family. This is not a good basis to any relationship, let alone a marriage.
I was married young and I thought that he was my "gold". I was so, so wrong. He turned out to be the complete opposite of what I thought he was, not all at once but gradually over time. I am now out ( Thank God! ) of that relationship, and have truly found my soulmate.
You will be settling for less then you deserve if you follow thru on this plan without serious thought on your part. Don't let your emotions lead you around, research and use your brain logically to come to your conculsions.

just a thought ... as i recall, in the early 90's the documentary "purple triangle" was made.
this was made independant of the wts and once it was shown to them, because it was very pro-jw, they purchased the rights to the video and started distributing it among jw's.. is it possible, that joel engardio knew of this prior to his producing "knocking" and his attempt is to sell the video rights to the wts?

I find it interesting that the director's mother is a JW, but the director himself is not.HHHHHHHHMMMMMMM is it because he knows that they are cultish in all their dealings? If the Jehovah's Witnesses are such a good, loving organization then why aren't you one Mr.Joel P. Engardio?

Well they do counsel from the stage to get the children while they are young and impressionable. You know before they develope the ability to think for themselves.

Greendawn, Yes this really happened. My mother emotionally blackmailed me into agreeing that yes someday I would get baptized. Afterall I wouldn't want God to kill me, and if I wanted to have my family be able to speak to me then I would do it. ( HA! now they don't talk to me anyway )
This put everything on fast forward mode, my mother arranged to have the questions gone over with me ( I never made the call ), I didn't have a bible study with anyone and the book was sped thru with apparently zero consideration to what my response was. Sample answer.... Do you accept blah blah Jehovah as blah, something else? Me UMMM I don;t know?
I was baptized within the next 6 weeks, I had just turned 14.

You have to go through the book of questions before baptism which happens over several sessions. Get the answers very wrong and they will say you are not ready
Unfortunately this was supposed to be my easy out and it backfired on me.
I answered 75 % flat out wrong, 20 % I said "I don't know" to and the other 5% the answer was helpfully pointed out to me so that I could read it!
No matter though, they shoved me in the pool anyways! Don't to it to please others, because eventually you won't be able to take it anymore.

with those two short, sweet, words of the nh supreme court, the berry girls 4-year fight to hold the wts responsible has come to an abrupt and bitter end.. a preliminary scan of the opinion indicates a virtual slam-dunk victory for the wts, although there was one dissenting justice out of the four on one issue only, the only female justice of the four.
