  Would you go to a funeral at the Kingdom Hall?

  so my brother and i have been having talks about what will happen when our dad passes away eventually.

  most of his brothers and sisters have died in their 50's or early 60's.

  i flat out refuse to attend any part of the service that would be done at the kingdom hall.

  I guess I'm pretty lucky....in the part of the country where I grew up, the funeral is held in the funeral home and at the grave side. I'm sure when it's my mother's time, she will have a totally witness funeral.....my BIL is an elder and mom and my sister are pioneers!

  However, if they do have it in the KH, I will go along with my ex-husband and our 2 children and their spouses or partners and act very dignified and proper. As much as I hate the KH.....I enjoy rubbing the fact that I have a life, even though I'm not a JW.

  If you don't go, believe me, sometime in the future you will be sorry.......you'll need closure. Besides all of you friends at JWD will be here for you.....!

  I'm enjoying a flute of Rosa Regale by Banfi.....a perfect wine to have with Chocolate! Sooooo I just had to finish up the Chocolate Mousse' I made this afternoon.........life is good......wine, chocolate and JWD!

  wooohooo like old times

  oh my god, i'm back into the groove again.

  back when i first made the move to get out of this religion, i was partying with this girl from work, but then i fuked it up.

  second semester i made lots of friends but they really chirstian, but still fun with going to concerts and all.

  I think first of all I'd clean up my language.....you may think it's "kool" but most young women don't until they know you better......and NEVER EVER, EVER put your hand on someone you don't know....that's a good way to end up handcuffed in the back of a police car being charged with assault or something worse! If she's got friends around the size of Richey it's also possible you could lose your whole arm. A friendly Hi my name is _______ would you like to dance, works pretty well with the girls I see at the dance clubs I work in down here in Florida.

  Yeh! I know.....I'm middle aged, etc., etc.....but you know what, I can bounce someone out as well as the big guys and quite honestly because I look like everyone's mom I can diffuse a lot of heated situations....and the females in the club feel they have someone to come to if they're having a problem!

  Just hang loose....don't try so hard....there are a lot of fish in the sea....take your time! And most important don't be so serious HAVE FUN!

  i was trying to fade, and thought i had done so successfully for the past 18months.. i have just received a call from my dad saying it will be announced tomorrow that i have been disfellowshipped... can they do this???.

  Chok, I realize this is a terribly emotional topic, however you did introduce it and one thing I've noticed....if you ask a question or ask for an opinion....you're going to get it here.

  If you are DF'd, it is going to impact your family....if you fade, it is going to impact your family...if you DA yourself, it is going to impact your family. No matter how it is done....leaving Jehovah's Witnesses changes your life forever.....better now than when your children are older...believe me it has a greater impact then than now! THERE IS NO EASY WAY TO LEAVE! If there were JWD wouldn't be needed.

  If you are DF's you can always be re-instated (if you so desire)....if you fade you can always be "brought back into the fold" (if you so desire), if you DA yourself.....well I don't know if that's reversable....or you can sit on the fence and be miserable and totally mess up your family's life for a few more years.

  (by family I mean your immediate family....wife and children!)

  Weight Issues

  my wife has been struggling with her weight since the birth of our children.

  she's done every fad diet and always gives up.

  now she's turned to phentermine, a controlled substance for weight loss.

  How did you get the "troof"?

  i was assimilated at birth... .

  my maternal grandparents came to england in the early 1940s, and learnt the troof here.

  my grandfather opposed my grandmother for a while, but then he decided it wasn't worth the fight and studied the blue "troof book" and my grandparents got baptised at the same assembly.

  The way my mother tells it....she read the bible a great deal and prayed for direction in her life...when I was under 2 the JW's knocked on the door. She wanted to study, but my father told her if she did he would take me away from her and let his father and step-mother raise me...so mom didn't study. Within 5 years of my birth there were 3 of us, my mother became very depressed....even thought about taking her life....so she prayed and prayed for direction...and called one of the local JW's...they came, studied....she gave up smoking and was baptised within months.....the rest is history. At 9 it sounded pretty neat! Was baptised as 13, pioneered, etc., etc., etc.

  Wised up faded and happier than I've ever been!

  Did you ever see an elder with a 2 door car?

  i already bought 2 door cars, and the witnesses didn't like it... i felt looked down upon, as it was a sin to buy a 2 door car.. now imagine an elder buying a 2 door car....

  When did anyone ever see an elder use his car for field service? I remember when the 4 door vs 2 door lectures were going on....I was a full time pioneer and owned a very economical Volkswagon Beetle! We pile 6 sisters in that little car and went in field service...it was cheap to run and I knew enough about it of make minor repairs!

  After I was married (before I faded) I would drive my son, then 4 years old to the Sunday meetins in my 1968 Corvette Convertible! While I received many snide comments on how well my "worldly" husband and I were doing....I also received several requests from two of the elders to "take the 'vette for a spin around the block".

  Kept the car....left the "truth"

  Years ago, I too became legally hooked to this form of diet control. Decided to stop taking them even though I was slim and trim....I was up 22 hours a day, cleaning, doing yard work...whatever needed to be done...could not sleep! I quit cold turkey, wouldn't recommend that to anyone.

  I've spent years with my weight yoyoing! Finally, I've just decided to eat as healthy as possible....walk...and not sweat the extra weight as long as I can keep my BP down. I bought Dr. Phil's book and found it helpful and I've been averaging a pound a week....I didn't put the weight on overnight, I'm not going to loose it overnight. If I don't loose one week, I don't worry about it!

  Unless your wife is morbidly obese, she's doing more harm than good trying to get rid of the extra weight this way.....if she's healthy and her BP is norman, she'd be better off with a healthy diet and moderate exercise....say a walk in the evening, weather permitting.

  Elder Condemned Me to Death

  i have been thinking about this because of another post where the question asks have any of us ever been blackmailed to stay in the watchtower organization.. no, i won't say i was blackmailed; however, after i wrote my note of disassociation, the congregation overseer wanted to visit me in my home with two other elders.

  i repeatedly said no, that i would not allow them to chastise me in my own home.

  therefore, all of my conversations were over the phone with the overseer.

  Seems to me the elders now think they have the right to judge as Jehovah would judge...have they lost the part about being witnesses???? Oh, sorry I forgot....things change as they get "new understanding". Don't let it bother you..we're all gonna die eventually. You might as well have a long peaceful life until it's your time!
