Will the wts face a Muslim backlash over the new tract?

they do, after all, classify all religions apart from theirs as false, and we've seen in the last few days that it doesn't take much to inflame the more militant factions of islam.

there's a large muslim community around here, and i can't see some of them taking kindly to being labelled a false religion.. this may not be the best time for the wts to be distributing such "information", but i expect they will go ahead, oblivious as to the sort of reaction it may provoke.

i hope that nothing much comes of this campaign, but in the sensitive times in which we all live, i can't help wondering....

While at the meeting I asked myself this very question. But than noticed the picture of the Catholic Priest, so as mentioned by another poster, they went after the easy target, Catholics.

If they really wanted to make a statement and rile a few people, they should of shown Muslims in their traditional garb and called them for what they seem to be, which is a murderous, women hating bunch of absolute wackos. Actually I think most are no better or worst than witnesses. What I found really crazy about Muslims, is they get offended when people critize them for being militant, they get so offended that they start killing people. Duhhhhhhh, well, I guess that reaction tells the story.

Do the Governing Body have a priviliged life style or not?

having heard that ted jaracz is being flown out of state to consult a heart specialist, i started wondering what other luxuries the governing body of the wtbts enjoy!

any one any idea how they really live and if their vow of poverty is fake?.

Exactly, I thought he was of the annointed, why is he trying to postpone the greatest reward, being in heaven with Jesus, perhaps the Dr. should help him find the door...LOL.

Baptisms (WT legal contract) null and void

is there any truth that people under the age of eighteen cannot be held under a legal contract (which is what the wt views baptism as, a legally binding document to the society)?

the result would be that individual cannot be disfellowshiped since that person was underage and above all, never even signed a document.

is this applicable in the us at least?.

Those children who never got baptised yet were raised around the organization all their life fair not much better than those who decided to leave after baptism. They are still marked as bad associates and many of their life time friends will no longer talk to them or return their phone calls. In many cases their own parents will treat them as if they are disfellowshiped even though they were never baptised.

this pdf-"kit" was sent to us from a friend of ours who is an elder in england who is thoroughly disgusted.

the file is being sent throughout many congregations by email to assist the witnesses with "corrections" for their "revelation" book.

One of the funniest things I saw was at a bookstudy, the last publication had an update found in the latest book, the elder conducting had the most recent copy and his wife had the old one, she went on and on how her copy was different and asking why and what the difference meant. Her husband just fumbled around and clearly didn't understand the difference, he glossed over the difference and moved on. It was so comicle, I was just waiting for someone to say somthing off the wall, but no one did.

Bethel meals

have any of you had the experience of eating with the bethel family?.

what were some of the idiosyncrasies of it?.

as i mentioned before in another thread, it was brought up to me by another jw guest after the meal that it was "as if this was like a cult" when everyone would drop their utensils on que, stand up in unison and end the meal with a prayer.

Any meals I ever had, I always enjoyed. What I found strange was how little friendly talk there was amoung the people who must of eaten together all the time.

the girl that is telling her story about her brother raping her says that they "confessed" in church to their elders.

Please Don't Turn On The Gas!

i've noticed that almost all new kingdom halls are without windows, even in neighborhoods that are quite safe and crime free.

some have said it's because they do not want you looking out and daydreaming.

others have said it slows down the two day quick build miracles by at least an hour.. my mother may have hit in on the head when she said, "when the time comes it will be easier for them to 'gas' you!.

The Bastard told on my dad

so...everything had been fine for a while.

i wrote my da letter, very clear and also very surprinsingly "apostate" according to the elders.

so at first, dad does what he's told is right and starts the shunning.

So the elders are basically saying that you and your mom can't associate either? That's bull crap. You're out. She's out. Your dad and mom are a package deal and the elders can't stop them from associating with each other. If he goes someplace with your mom, and you are going there with your mom, the elders are putting their noses where it doesn't belong. All he has to say is that he is not speaking with you and that would satisfy their idiotic rules. There is NOTHING that says that he has to become a recluse in order to avoid associating with you, when you and your mom have every right to do so

I didn't think about that, the mother has every right to have her daughter along anytime of the day or night in the home out of the home and not one thing the Elders can or should say about it. The Father is still married and owes cosideration to his wife, which means he has to tolerate the DF daughter being along. If he were to try to bann her from their lives inspite of what his wife wants, than he would be no different then the worldly husband who try bann their JW wives from attending meetings and the like.

Scripturally Free to Remarry?

had a discussion with a friend of mine yesterday -- she's still semi in the borg.

anyway, she says she's free to remarry as defined by dub rules.

she's divorced, however, there was no cheating by either party in the marriage.

This rule is so rediculous it is beyond belief. I know of people who have had great reasons for getting divorced by anyone's standards but the JWs and have had remain single for years, often times giving up the best chance they have for remarriage.
