my responsibilities include client acquisition and maintinence, as well as developing the strategy we are using to grow our business by taking over markets from our competitiors.

currently we have 3 offices and about 40 employees in la, ny, and nc, with corporate offices in fl.. my family and friends think i work on computers making minimum wage.

I work for the graphic design department here at VCU, my alma mater. I'm the main representative of the department and the main office assistant. People either think that I wade through a beauropathic nightmare of educational administration from morning to night, or else they think I sit around and surf the web all day. Really, I spend about 2 hours per day swampped with paperwork and the rest of the time I surf the web.

Are JW's Self-righteous?

a good friend who is a police officer told me last night that he believes a lot of the jw's he has met through the years in his line of work are extremely self-righteous.

i didn't have much of a reply but it did get me thinking about what he said.

so, what do you guys think?

yeah, how can you not be self-righteous when you're a separatist? if you don't naturally feel that because of your special status as a member of the world's one true religion, then i think you end up with an inflated sense of self-righteousness that you have to kind of force on yourself, as self-defense.

i've been having a bit of a browse around on www.myspace.com looking at the jw groups.. there are so many listed there and heaps of young jws seem to frequent the sites.. how feasible would it be for someone to setup a jw group under the guise of being pro and slowly but surely bring up questions like... 'hey my history teacher taught from <insert publication name here> that jereuselum (sp) wasn't destroyed in 607bce but in 587bce.

is that true?

i noticed in a couple of young jw forums on myspace, they are "leaving" the site. they say they are anyway, but they are always still there collecting emails and responding to folk. anyway, here's a bit of someone's post about why:

IT'S NOT ABOUT ANYTHING THAT HAS ALREADY HAPPENED. IT'S WHAT YOU ARE LEAVING YOURSELF OPEN TO. I HAVE MET POSITIVE PEOPLE FROM MYSPACE TOO BUT THE TALKS WERE NOT SPEAKING IN REGARDS TO WITNESSES. THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO PUT THEMSELVES OUT THERE TO BE SOMEONE THEY'RE NOT. CONSEQUENTLY, PEOPLE IN THE GROUPS HAVE MENTIONED GETTING FRIEND REQUESTS FROM PEOPLE TARGETING WITNESSES TO STUMBLE THEM. JUST THE FACT THAT IT COMES FROM THE FAITHFUL AND DISCREET SLAVE AND THAT WE'VE BEEN CONSTANTLY WARNED AGAINST IT SHOULD BE ENOUGH BUT PEOPLE HAVE TO HEAR IT OVER AND OVER. THAT'S HOW I WAS. I LOVED ALL OF THE PEOPLE IN THE TRUTH THAT I HAD MET AND WAS CLINGING TO MYSPACE JUSTIFYING THAT NOTHING HAD HAPPENED OR THAT IT PROBABLY WOULDN'T. THAT'S WHEN I FOUND MYSELF SLOWLY BEGINING TO BE "WISE IN MY OWN EYES". SOMETHING THAT COMES STRAIGHT FROM THE ORGANIZATION OVER AND OVER SHOULD BE VIEWED AS COMING STRAIGHT FROM JEHOVAH. AFTER ALL, THEY ARE HIS MEANS OF COMMUNICATING TO US AND IF WE, AS YOUTH- NOT VERY EXPERIENCED IN WHAT AND WHAT WON'T GET US SNARED, DON'T HEED JEHOVAH'S INSTRUCTION... THEN WE ARE SURELY MISLEADING OURSELVES AND WE ARE EVEN WARNED ABOUT BEING MISLED WHEN JESUS THROUGH SATAN DOWN TO THE EARTH. REMEMBER? "WOE FOR THE EARTH......" AND SUCH. DON'T HAVE MY BIBLE ON ME RIGHT NOW SO I FEEL LIKE AN IDIOT QUOTING LIKE THAT. BUT IRONICALLY, THIS IS WHAT THE BROTHER'S PUBLIC TALK WAS ABOUT..... BEING MISLED. PLEASE SHARE THIS WITH THE BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN THE GROUP FOR ME. Trouble explaining my life story to my boyfriend of almost 2 years

well, the time has come to explain my former jw life to my boyfriend of almost 2 years.

he's getting a bit tired of being there for me during my meltdowns and not knowing or fully understanding why i am having a meltdown.

i can no longer explain it as pms...he knows me too well now.

Lots of good advice here, just adding my 2 cents... 1. DON'T spare the gory details - your story is not just another family rift due to fundamentalism story, so don't leave out the gory details! 2. DON'T be ashamed of your JW past! I was, now I'm not. It's not your fault!

Census anyone

those census that you get in the mail that want to know everything and i mean everything about your income ,house size, rooms in your home and how much it costs you for heating your home and on and on ,to me it is personal and wandering if i have to send it back because it makes me uncomfortable to fill this out and expose my everything to strangers .

have you ever gotten one and how do /did you feel about it and did you send it in.

by law do i have to fill it out and return it ?

Yes, the US Census should be returned; its really important and the results help the Feds decide where to distribute the few funds that they send on to cities & other areas in need of public improvements like buildings & programs. I don't know what you would be getting now-in 2005. If it's from the Federal Gov't then its a projection, or another tool to aid in all the estimates that go on in the five-year mark between census polls. If its from your city or county it may for some local funding issues they have going on. If you don't want to return it due to privacy issues, by all means don't. Just always return the ones on the 10 year mark; you legally must and they are a necessity.

definitely eat breakfast before you go in. if you're relatively healthy, breakfast will assure that you indeed will not pass out. if you're offered juice and cookies before or after the procedure, eat that too.
