  i've changed my avatar, 'cos after a few comments on here about me being an 'old man' i realised that some people thought my old one was a pic of me.

  it wasn't (honest) it ws a scan of a postcard.

  i'm not that old (50).. so now, i'll use a pic of the car instead.

  is jesus real to you?.

  the reason i ask is because a few weeks ago i was talking with two young men about him and one of them turned to the other (his cousin) and said, "i know jesus is real.

  feel kinda sick and shaky

  just found out my mom's cancer is worse than she thought...widespread--colon, lungs, bone...so she said i can come down and see her if i want to (7 hours away), and my help would be appreciated if i could manage it.

  of course i can manage it.

  she's my mom.. but i'm dfed, and she's a jw, living with her jw neice's family.

  This is such a difficult time for you to go through. You can be an example to THEM with you unconditional love. When they are at their meetings you can tell and show your mom your love for her. Your daughter will lighten the load for you too. Children are so sweet(most of the time). Just treat them kindly and "heap firey coals on their heads" as the Bible says.. I am sure your loving personality will shine through and you can make peace with your mom. I wish my mom was still here. Keeping you and your mom in my prayers.

  just want to say how great it is to be able to talk to people in the same situation.

  sometimes it feels like there's no-one who can really understand what it's like being brought up in the jws.

  Welcome to the "we're out" club. You and I will have to get together each June to celebrate. I just sent my disassociation letters out last Thursday. It is a big step to take to make that last step out and I am sure we will shake that tar off in time. Congratulations on your courage...Arwen

  I disassociated myself today....June 8, 2006

  i wrote a letter to some personal friends in the congregation and enclosed the letter from the un.

  i also wrote a short disassociation letter to four elders and enclosed the un letter as well.

  i delivered them to the mailboxes and also mailed a couple.

  Thanks for all your kind words.. I really need them. It was a very hard thing to do....the final cut so to speak...I just kept delaying it but I was helped by my best friend Gladdy/Meljon who is and never was a JW and it was kind of like getting out of an abusive relationship. These are the feelings I am having now...I am relieved as I won't have to worry about elders visiting me and friends trying to talk me into meetings, etc. I am empowered as I know the truth about the "truth". It is truly a cult and if any of you are lurking and frightened to post like I was a year ago then let me be an example to you. You can break free. I am still a good person, I still love God and his Son, I still pray. I am still loved by my family and friends.
