  this is just in from the ap this morning; scientology knows how to wine and dine folks in hollywood to become good little couch jumpers on national tv: :) .

  "tom cruise's faith in scientology was nurtured at a secretive southern california desert compound that catered to his needs around the clock, a newspaper reported.

  behind the guarded gates of the 500-acre compound near hemet, about 90 miles east of los angeles, cruise had a personal supervisor to oversee his studies in a private course room, ex-members said.

  It's really creepy here in LA with all the people who are dying to succeed in the "biz".

  The scientologists hold "industry seminars" about how to make it in the biz with celebrity guests and casting agents. Then in fine print it says all people in attendance receive some RLH book. I've had an actress friend of mine say she was asked by a casting agent if she was a scientologist, because if she was one he would get her an audition for some project. If people are in a bad spot in their life, they might take the chance to see if they can succeed.

  I always laugh at how they are so against Psychiatry. They have a museum in Hollywood with a name like The International Commission on Human Rights. The place has nothing to do with human rights, just a place where they trash Psychiatry. I believe Psychiatry gives people the tools to help them think for themselves and sort out problems on their own, that's probably why they are so against it.

  Could My Parents Be Softening Up

  saturday i called my mom and she was telling me about my little brother's robotic competition that he's involved in.

  apparently, his team has made the state finals and they had the competition the next day.

  i'm starting to think she's softening on the whole wt thing for these reasons:.

  One time the topic of scientology came up. My mom was talking about Tom and Katie or something and mentioned how wierd the religion was. I said, "yeah it's crazy, i read an article that says that scientologists cut off all social ties with non-believers so it makes them harder to leave" Wonder if she was able to reflect on that.

  Saturday I called my mom and she was telling me about my little brother's robotic competition that he's involved in. Apparently, his team has made the state finals and they had the competition the next day. I'm starting to think she's softening on the whole WT thing for these reasons:

  1) She talks to me often and hasn't threatened shunning in over a year. She used to ask "what are you going to do about the truth?" on a monthly basis. I was baptized at a young age and left when I came out of the closet but was never disfellowshipped.

  2) She's letting my little brother participate in after school activities which would have never been allowed when I lived at home.

  3) She's missing a meeting to bring my brother to the competition. Her only complaint about going to the competition was that she has to be there so early in the morning.

  This is all good news. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

  Our trip to London, England and Paris, France -- Pictures!

  it was a wonderful trip!

  in addition to showing our children the famous landmarks, we were able to have lunch with narkissos in paris, and with englishman and ignored one in england.

  narkissos has no problem with his picture being posted (i don't think the others do either, but our jw friends were with us too that day and are in the pictures so i don't think they'd want their photos on an ex-jw site -- at least not yet!).

  World Aids Day

  the latest news about aids is very disturbing, this truly is a global epidemic.. rather than give drug users needles and sex workers condoms, people who actively encourage the spread of the disease should cease and desist from their destructive behavior.

  it is not the fault of children who aquire the disease through the mother.

  unfortuantely, children with aids are being abandoned, neglected and dumped in the street.. people who work in the sex industry are responsible for their own demise, and that of others if they do not stop their trade.

  There wouldn't be a sex industry if there wasn't a market for it. People keep buying prostitues. As long as there is a demand, it will keep happening. Don't blame the sex workers, blame the people who provide them with a living.

  BTW: I believe that countries with legalized prostitution (Netherlands) actuallly have lowing STD rates among sex workers than in countries in which the trade is illegal.

  hernandez was at his lowest point when he met cecilia foxwell, an evangelist with the kingdom hall of jehovah's witnesses .

  while handing out pamphlets to the homeless living at the silver beach avenue approach, cecilia took a liking to hernandez and offered to pay him $3 a day to clean the yard outside her beachside apartment complex, seaire, which was nearby.

  My mom met the witnesses when she was pregnant with my older brother. She was 17 and living at home. She dropped out of high school too.

  is the game as dangerous as has been suggested by the wts all this while?

  wts seems confident that all inexplicable events associated with the game comes from a supernatural source, and not a psychological one.

  The ouija board at my friend's house only works after we've polished off a few bottles of red. HAHAHA!!

  Not that I'm a believer, but an experiment as logical as Seattle's is the equivalent of throwing yourself off a building and saying "if there is a god, he'll save me" ain't gonna happen whether there is a god or not.

  Office Christmas Party Ideas

  i'm on the activities committee of my company, so i am in on the planning.

  we want to make the party lots of fun.

  i'm looking for some more ideas..... here's what we have so far.:.

  The 2nd goes something like this. You do the above but each person gets to choose from either the unwrapped gift pile or from one of the gifts a person already picked out and opened. For example, first person opens their gift and it's a bottle of liquor. 2nd person gets to choose from the pile of wrapped gifts or can opt to take the liquor from person #1 and give them an unwrapped gift of their choice. People seem to think this is hilarious but it can get ugly.

  A good old fashioned Yankee swap. I got screwed with a gag gift one year because I was number 1.

  At my office we have less than 20 employees so we go down to Chevy's and sit at one long table, have open menu, give our secret santa gifts, and get our bonuses.

  I did work for a company that brought in a string quartet for the party. It was very classy.

  Probably going out for atonight.

  Then doing some homework and starting to write my next short film. It's the first weekend in awhile when I didn't have specific plans. So refreshing. I'm sleeping till noon tomorrow to celebrate.
