  Scary stuff. Here in LA they are always out in the Hollywood tourist areas offering their free stress test. Of course everybody is diagnosed as stressed and needs Dianetics or some other crap. Now they even have their Nascar which they put out on the street to attract more people. But it's all about $$. My friend was walking by there and they were hardselling their book. "It's only $8.95! How often do you spend $8.95 on lunch or even something that you throw away." lol

  as many of you are aware being brought up in the organisation, there was a general directive from the wt that secular education was good, but not encouraged as far as university and further education was concerned.

  many witnesses left school in the 70s with no formal qualifications.

  my question therefore is 2 fold.. 1. what would you have liked to become as far as your career is concerned?.

  Contemporary Gender Distinction - Why?

  i think that as society progresses towards greater equality (even if there are temporary hindrances along the way), the question as to whether efforts towards reducing gender distinction should be attempted arises in some of our minds.

  clearly not everyone is going to agree on this.

  but i think anyone who is truly reasonable is going to desire that all people are treated more equitably, in fact as much as possible.

  That's an easy one. The biggest advertiser in the nation is Proctor and Gamble and women are the largest buyers of P&G products. This goes way back to the time of the original radio "Soap Operas" :-)

  Were you allowed to take sex education in school, when raised a JW?

  when i was in my freshman year, they had us take a half semester of sex education and another one was drivers education.

  the sex education class taught good stuff for a young teen to know, especially if they were in families who were kind of lax about teaching what needed to be know.

  as an example, one girl in our class actually asked if you could get pregnant the first time and another asked if the pulling out method was as good as a condom.

  We had sex-ed starting in 5th grade back we everything was in one class (didn't start switching till 6th grade). I don't recall there ever being a permission slip. It was mostly about all the STDs you can get and not much about getting pregs. Then the same thing was repeating each time with more detail all the way through school. They never did those "How To Put A Condom On" classes that you hear about, but maybe it was because if you were too dumb to figure it out you shouldn't have sex.

  i'm joining everyone from the bowels of the sun princess, a ship belonging to the princess cruise lines.

  about an hour and a half ago, we left the port of seattle for alaska.

  my grandmother sent me and my grandfather on this trip for a graduation present.

  HAHAHA!! This is too funny. Even if these items were put in purposely it could be that the artists are just bored creative people. They are probably sick of painting Jesus and Paradise all the time that they wanted to spice it up a little.

  Met a Laid off Bethel Couple

  i met a married couple caught up in the recent bethel layoffs.

  they are a fairly young couple in their mid to upper 30s, i didn't think to ask which department they worked in before being laid off.

  the couple was driving cross country from new york to california, and stopping overnight at jw homes along the way.

  Driving across the country at these gas prices. OUCH!! They should have done the math because it probably is cheaper to fly JetBlue.

  In 2000 I drove from Boston to Los Angeles. Gas prices were less than half of today's price at it cost me about $160 in gas. So let's say $320 plus the inconvenience and food. For about $100 more they could get there in 5.5 hours and watch worldly TV the whole way.
