  Was Your Leaving The Witnesses A Very Gradual Process Or A Quick One?

  for me, it took many years.. even when i would read all the changes over the years from the "truth", i still would ignore it and "wait on jehovah" and try to be a positive force in the congregation.. eventually, i just couldn't take it anymore and resigned as an elder, and slowly but surely made my fade.. what about you?

  this is the first time they are doing it in Canada.

  First time in Canada??? I was doing that in 1983, and I first noticed JWs doing it about 10 years before that.

  I'm sure they were doing it longer than most of us have been alive.

  i always was a critical jw, now df and agnost.

  but still this religion fascinates me.

  in my eyes most jw are very sincere, but dumb sheep.. this board is filled with ex-jw.

  I'm not bitter. Now that I'm no longer a JW no one is hassling me and calling me "materialistic" for doing normal things like having a good job and my own home. I'm quite happy about this.

  Ok ladies help me out, coupons, does it make sense to spend $5. in gas to save .50 cents?

  because it is on sale doesn,t mean it,s a saving, 5lbs of.

  I'll buy something that's on sale if it's something I use and if it's in the stores I go to. I won't drive out of my way or make a special trip just because something is a few cents cheaper. My time is worth something too.

  Almost no one knows what the WBT$ Message is..

  After over 130 yrs..

  In spite of that, most still have the sense to stay clear of them. That says a lot.

  My vows are between me and those I make them to, and are not subject to policing by anyone. You are not entitled to an explanation.

  i know most jehovah's witnesses believe in the soul sleeping doctrine.

  by this, given that neither man nor beast has a spirit, but that they do possess souls (or "intelligences" unique to themselves).

  where this intelligence resides between death and resurrection is more than a passing interest, but again, assuming that yehweh can recreate one's distict soul, does the society believe that animals have souls?

  Human have not even began to imitate the myriad ingenious ways the animal kingdom has invented to kill and torture its rivals and even its kith and kin.

  I'd give a more detailed reply, but I have an intervention to perform. At this moment some sparrows in my backyard are waterboarding a cat, the wasps are punching a hole in the ozone layer, and an ant colony is trying to raise my taxes while cutting services.

  I won't even start on the genocide going on next door.

  It is only human arrogance that allows us to entertain the belief that we are superior to animals.

  No animal abuses its own kind with the efficiency and enthusiasm that humans do.

  were friendships in other congregations discouraged?

  i had a good friend with a lot of common interests but he was in a congregation about 40 miles away.

  we did a lot together with both of our families.

  until we had a local needs part about association with ones not in our own congregation.
