When I owned my own business this holiday cost me thousands of dollars because I couldn't operate on that day - all for something I don't believe in and have no use for.

BESIDES I don't believe anyone would say a holiday is imposing.

It can be for someone of a different religious persuasion. They are forced to stay home from work on days that mean nothing to them, yet when they have a religious holiday of their own they have to take it off at their own expense. Often, their employer will deny them even that. Perhaps they should be given the option of working on Christian holidays and take the days as floaters so they can celebrate their own holidays.

Christmas is special and holy.

Most retailers would agree.

So why are we all fighting about Christmas anyway??? It's not even Labour day yet!!!

No, you want to know what's hypocritical? A government that, through legislation, shoves a "Christian" holiday down the throats of non-Christians while at the same time claiming we have "freedom of religion".

What about freedom FROM religion?

Have some of our families stayed together?

Not mine! But then, once I DA'd my wife wasn't allowed to pray with me anymore because I was a demonized apostate bastard from hell.

As to why some celebrate the holiday when they don't believe in Jesus, it may be because it's a statutory holiday. We don't have the option of going in to work. Just about everything is closed - you can't even go out to a restaurant or donut shop. This holiday is imposed on people whether they're Christian or not, so they should not be criticized for celebrating it in whatever way they choose.

Being pressured to goto meetings,

hi everyone, all i wanted was a bible study, now we're at the point where we read 2 chapters in knowledge book, and the discussion turns to how i forsaking the inciting with others to worship,(something like that).

is there anything i can say to get them to accept that i'll go when/if i feel like going?.

this past weekend, they kept asking me what obstacles were in my way, i said i haven't had time, they go yeah you say that but there has to be something else, .

There is no tactful way of telling them to back off. They are too stupid to understand tact. As long as you don't sternly put your foot down they'll keep pushing you. My answer would be something like:

"Any obstacles are my personal business, which is something I will not share with you. I know where the kingdom hall is - If I attend I'll do so when I'm good and ready. Nagging and pressuring me are the best way to ensure I won't come. I don't wish to discuss this subject again!"

The only thing I celebrate at that time of year is the fact that I get the week off between ~~Xmas~~ Christmas and New Years. It's an opportunity for me to fill my face more than usual and slop around the house a lot.

Embarrassing moments at work

i think we need a fun fluffy thread today, so this is my attempt at starting one.

at work we have a big bathtub with air jets.

clients come in for a hydrobath, (hopefully remember their swimsuit 'cause i've seen so many naked people by now it's getting boring), leave and then, oh joy!, i get to clean the tub.

annoying the JWs

yesterday i saw a couple of witnesses from my local kingdom hall offering out tracts right outside of a church, i knew i had to walk passed them and i didn't want to give them the satisfaction of ignoring me, so just to spite/shock them i walked straight into the church, stayed there for a few minutes then walked back out again.. has anyone ever done anything ridiculous or childish just to annoy them?
