  How long would it take? (Physics question, sort of. Maybe)

  let's say i've got a length of solid material that is one light year long.

  it's just hanging there in space, between galaxies, not affected by gravity enough at any point along its length to be twisted, bent, whatever.

  let's also say that it is resistent to flexing.. i'm at one end of this impossibly-existing rod, and you are at the other.

  he did not discuss their eternal future if they obeyed.

  in my congregation it is frowned apon.

  a male can have one but he wouldnt get any privilidges and would probably be labeled the black sheep.

  I think the governing body and all elders need to wake up. The organization has many problems that they're not doing anything about, like false prophecies, UN scandal, pedophiles in the congregations, etc. Yet they raise bloody hell about something as silly as facial hair.

  Bible reading without the WT filter

  you know even though i think the wt doctrine is mostly all garbage now, i still do believe that the bible is inspired from our creator.

  the flaw in my understanding of it in the past was because i was interpreting it through the filter of the wts.

  recently i have started clean slate and read the bible without the wt filter (easier said than done, your mind has a way of reverting back to what was programmed in there).

  I made it a point to avoid reading the bible at all when I first left the WT for the same reason - everything I read went through the watchtower filter. I've been out now for about 2 1/2 years, so I'm just starting to do a bit of bible reading using the NIV.

  at a lutheran church- the chap said he heard me a zillion years ago????

  ( i doubt that)i've only been on earth 78-but his bible study group has been asking "what can we say when the jw knocks at our door" ?.

  I would ask them if their religion teaches anything that goes beyond what is written in the bible, and if so, how do they reconcile that with the scripture at Galations 1:8,9

  Got my return visit today!

  so the witnesses came back today to discuss more with me.

  it was 2 late 20 yr old men.

  i will just give a brief recap.. they told me in the bible it said the earth was a sphere long before people knew it.

  Oh they also said god is not all powerful because he cannot lie.

  So I guess the watchtower society has one up on Jehovah, because they can lie.

  Lost and found

  i just lost my favourite ring - the little brass signet band my grandfather gave me when i was 9 and i have worn every minute sincei was 9.

  i went franctic and then retraced my steps and found it on the downstairs bathroom floor - tucked under the rug and was finally calm.

  have you ever lost anything and had it found or returned unusually or unexpectedly?.

  Don't tell me you're at a loss for words.

  Ah, now there's some text!!!

  I lost a DVD and it took several months to find. One thing I'm still puzzled about is a half full bottle of beer I lost about 6 months ago. I was in the basement with my beer when I heard the phone ring upstairs. I grabbed the beer and ran up. The beer disappeared, and so did the bottle. I've searched the house from top to bottom but can't find it. I was very upset because it was my last beer. I told my JW mom about it and she said maybe the demons drank it, so I asked her if they returned the empty bottle for a refund too.
