The following is for me absolute proof that the GB is a fraud: I realized it after reading Ray's book and as an elder and having acted as a PO I am sure of this. The Society does not keep a record of any kind of the emblem partakers. When this dawned me I was stunned. But to my knowledge it is the truth. The elders send in a small card after each Memorial to Patterson with the number of partakers. No names, addresses of any kind go out. Furthermore when someone new to the congregation partakes, the elders decide whether to count that person or not. How's that for an arrangement? They know more about the status of various corporation voting members than they do about the supposed channel through which they get their doctrine from.

So how does the Governing Body represent the FDS?
by jaredg ini was just browsing through the organizational manual and nowhere did i see the procedure for how the gb receives information for the anointed around the world.
it seems reasonable to me that there would be some sort of arrangement for the fds to present "new light" to the gb.
anyone know how this is done or even if it is?

And sir82's comment explains why I have gone all the way. I will follow my conscience. now understand, I won't announce to the congregation to donate blood. But I won't tell them not to. And if someone did I would either look the other way or not serve on the case unless I knew for certain I could help them by serving. The Society's rules for me are much like the rules at the company I work for. I don't always agree with them. But if I can't change it I may just distance myself from it. Now if I had been in Ray franz's position I probably would have done what he did since now I would be setting policy, even if only as part of a body. But eders have surprisingly little power. You get some as a PO or chairman of something. Other than that you are really just a peon.

One of my dodges is that I do other things in the congregation that are not teaching related. Thus I get almost no service meeting parts. When I do they tend to be local needs and I set the topic.

April 15, WT: Education, personal fulfillment leads to spiritual death
by truthseeker inthe 2nd study article, "let your hands be strong", is very pointed to say the least.
it seems that many dubs are finding personal fulfillment outside the kingdom hall, and this is clearly a sin leading to spiritual death.. i leave blondie to do the full review, just some interesting comments... .
pg 27, paragraph 11 .

Sick thinking. They are getting more and more desperate, both for money and adherents.

I can't say severe guilt. There is definitely some. But when I consider the fact that I was a victim of this religion, and that when I started to have doubts I investigated and changed my values, it mitigates the guilt. Still, if I can ever help the people unfairly dealt with before my eyes were opened, you can be sure I will.
darkhunter:
A JW outreach ministry? I've never heard of such a thing. Who knows, maybe that will be my next mission.
serendipity:
When it comes to discussing my community work with others, very little. A handful know I run the PTA at my kid's school. But that is as far as I go. And definitely no discussion of any political involvement. Or when I donate blood.
Fatfreek:
That is so sad about your grands. I can only hope I don't go through the same.
Speaking of frustration for WT, it is one of my missions. To frustrate the heck out of them as they struggle to deal with the 'spirit appointed' elders who keep telling on them. The more of us that come out of the closet, well we give the GB a major headache.
What-A-Coincidence:
That is why I limit exposure to it. I don't read the publications. I scan them when needed. Funny thing is, it's the same stuff over and over. After being around this for over 30 years I can write parts in my sleep.
jgnat:
I'll watch myself. And I have you guys to help. As far as this board goes, everyone is entitled to free expression. We all learn from one another.

Elder's school.
by ithinkisee inmy father-in-law and i had a big discussion about elders and how they are not loving.
i said this was indicative of the society as a whole.
he countered by saying, "i go to the elder's school, and it is full of loving advice.

At my school, here were some ridiculous things mentioned:
One elder interviewed stated that in order to "Do All Things For God's Glory" he has no computer. His family doesn't need the Net. When his kid needs to use one they go to the library. This is THE EXAMPLE of what is appropiate.
Then in the part "The Superiority of Divine Education" an elder was interviewed who went to college, but never worked in his major. So this was presented as proof that college isn't worth the trouble. One guy's situation, covers all situations. I wonder if this guy gets sick, does he go to his fellow elders, or does he see a doctor who went to college AND is working in the field he majored in in college..

There is no way to walk the line perfectly. I do quite a bit of community service (not the JW kind). In fact it has replaced traditional JW field service for me. I think knocking on people's doors preaching lies is a waste of my time. Between being kind to those inside who are held captive and being useful in the community and to my family, my time is pretty well booked up. (Incidentally, working in the community is for me an effective exit strategy as I can build relationships to replace ones in the organization.)
I would like nothing better than to see this organization crumble. But as many have already said that is not likely to happen. It is ironic to help people stay in through mercy. There are no perfect answers. I will say this: There are thousands of JWs who don't give a damn about Watchtower. They do what they want and use the WTS for their own personal reasons. And many who are just 'reproved' instead of df'd still fade. But at least they do so at their own pace. And after fading they are still able to be in touch with their JW families even if they are unpopular. Understand, I know this is not for everyone and I know that in another congregation I would not survive. I have developed some unique circumstances that allow me to circumvent many restrictions that would normally 'send up red flags' in the minds of ignorant, die-hard JWs. Even where I am at currently, one day it may all come crashing down. But then that will a big win as well. In the meantime I have been able to interact with the media as an elder which provides some unique perspectives. As I may have hinted at, I do not care much about the Society's rules and doctrines as they have no right, God given or otherwise to make them. So I don't follow them. Hope this answers some of the issues.

A 'Screw the Publishers' GB Strategy?
by metatron inwhile a man might hold a particular office, there is no guarantee that his personal faith will continue.
there are a number of older.

This certainly what is going on.
Incidentally, one thing that may wake up a lot of JWs is seeing their organization get continually 'raked over the coals' by the justice system. It is already dawning on some that "Jehovah" is not protecting them. Some others are wondering how can 'the spiritual ark' protect them during some worldwide great tribulation when the main branch couldn't do a thing about Hurricane Katrina for it's active members. As things like this continue to happen and get publicized it will probably make more check their premises.
