i finally got the list for the us and canada.
i can't say which one your relatives or "friends" are going to but i can tell you what the sites are.
i notice they are not posted yet on the www.jw-media.org website.. many did not get their march 1, 2007, wts in us congregations until this week because the site of their convention had not been announced at the congregation level.. there are several english conventions being held at the newburgh, ny assembly hall and the queens, ny assembly hall as well as at the west palm beach, fl assembly hall.
WT is having a tough time getting places for conventions. More and more facilities refuse to rent to WT without some concessions to unions, allowing food vendors and such. So they are resorting to using Assembly Halls. Plus they can double-dip by eliminating expenses. They solicit the same contributions without the rental fees.

i've just been looking through the latest garbage literature in the above mentioned wt.
both study articles are on obeying the governing body, although the second article is more on obeying the elders.

we know the wts will never except woman as elders.in the last year as a member of jwd,i have learned more from blondie and mary than any elder in my congregation.all the elders in my congregation look like they go thru the motions.they are more like policy enforcers than teachers.. do you think that by excepting woman, some men would be embarassed to how little they know?
does the wts know some woman would better teachers?

i am forced to either accept df'ing without any defense [i clearly have none against charges of apostasy], or to at least 'speak my mind' one last time as i exit, with a hope of perhaps helping others to 'wake up'.. to that end - i have elected to send a letter of da to the elders - but more importantly - a copy of it, with a cover letter, to several families in the congregation.
most of these things never have a positive result, i know.
but at least i have attempted in this way to give a little defense for my position.
Hey Jeff, great work. An idea you may already have considered. If I ever have to DA myself (my letter is already written) I will email the entire congregation. Since they don't block my emails and the announcement will still be future some will glance at it. Just a thought. Plus they can read it in private.

as a programmer i am exposed to high technology all the time and ironically this has given me an odd aversion to it!
i like gadgets and gizmos like anyone else; however i demand it be discrete.
when i'm out-n-about i want to be connected, but at the same time i don't want anyone to be able to see it.. for years i have avoided the bluetooth headsets that appear to be gaining in popularity, however im still not quite ready to get one because of the obvious geek factor and the simple fact that many people who wear them appear to be making the "look at me, i've fancy" statement.
I know how you feel about technology. I work with a lot of technology and I also try to avoid the geek look or having the electronic leash. I still don't have a Bluetooth phone. When I do get one and a headset it will probably stay on my belt rather than my ear.

Oh my God! What a story. And reading yours is bringing flashbacks of my childhood. I went through so much of this, the spankings, the fear of demons...you're getting me to think again about writing my story up. I still have to finish yours but from what I've read so far I feel for you. And the part about the abuse...I actually shed tears.

i was what you call "born into the truth.
i'm not practicing the religion now and i was never baptized.
my fiance is baptist, we care having his pastor whom i very much like marry us.
Incidentally, the disqualification by virtue of going to a church ceremony was given to us to note in our Flock books about 3-4 years ago. It is their policy.
