The JWs believe that the Bible is some cohesive book. They believe that what is said in one place is backed up in another. That creates a ton of confusion for these people and a lot of debate which can never be conclusively resolved.

i've been reading some of the old jw books that are available on google books.. this has probably been shown before but i just seen it and thought i'd share.. .
this is pages 7 and 8 of studies in the scriptures volume 1.. i think anyone who is working towards baptism as a jw should have to read these older texts..just so they can recognize.

You are so right about reading that Old stuff first. What a difference that would make for so many people. Those who do not understand histoy are often condemned to repeat it.

busy day, had breakfast, only a yogurt for lunch, was glad to come home and have a bowl of cereal.
Congratulations. I was doing this a year ago and have maintained it. It can be done. Keep up the good work. And remember to do it the healthy way so that you can keep the weight off.

the full cover reads, "report on 'everlasting good news' assembly of jehovah's witnesses around the world june 30-september 8, 1963", 192 pages.. it appears to be a report on each of the conventions that were held around the world at that time.
a little wordy for modern taste, but there's lots of neato pictures.. hubby is borrowing it from a friend.
is this document available elsewhere or as a scan?
My parents used to have that. When they lost their house it disappeared. A scan would be nice for old times sake.

i swear more new light is available here than in the corridors of the wts.
in leviticus the israelites are instructed not to eat things strangled or already dead, but if they do, they are only unclean, not stoned to death.
so why has it been upgraded by the wts to be this unforgivable sin?
This matter was another nail in the JW coffin for me. I recommend if you haven't already read it Ray Franz's In Search of Christian Freedom. It touches on the matter of the animal's being sold to non-Jews. That clearly shows that the monetary value of the animal was still important. It could not therefore have been the cardinal sin that WT claims it to be.

so my mom calls me at 2:00am to tell me..that the doomsday clock has been moved forward to two minutes before midnight!!
i guess she has heard that i have a problem with the jw doom and gloom predictions.
but come on ma, we were asleep.
I did sleep well after. Thanks for asking. I am too tired working days, sending my daughter off to school early before work, and dealing with the ex wife's JW antics to get too shaken up. I appreciate the site on the clock as I hadn't gotten a chance to dig it up. Funny how it would never occur to her to look any of this up. The clock was THREE minutes to midnight in 1984 during the Cold War. Not that it matters much to JWs. They take what they want from secular sources and ignore the rest. I remember as a kid worrying about that clock. The dubs (and my Mom evidently) would talk about it as proof the end was "at hand". And that is what my Mom was driving at this morning.
