That sounds like a fluff DVD. About eight or so years ago I went to the dedication of the barbados branch addition. On the program there was a lot of excitement over the 'new policy' that allowed JW's more freedom to talk more about matters of science in their conversations as it related to glorifying Jah and his creation. I thought that sounded kind of silly, petty and controlling. I mean really JW's had been doing that for years. Anyway this DVD sounds like the product of that 'policy change'. It's definitely a deviation from their usual release material. This sounds more like what they'd put in an Awake article. It does also seem like a waste of time. I mean any Discovery, NatGeo, or Animal Planet is much more informative than a WT DVD could ever hope to be.

I can't help but wonder if Sydllik was on some male ego driven power trip at that moment. Then again, maybe he did stand in awe of the 'magnificient organization' and all it's supposed greatness. I know I did for a long time. Thanks for your 'tales' Barbara as it puts a human face on the experiences that we've had in this organization.

Why I'm Happy Ted Jaracz {governing body} is dying! Comments?
by Witness 007 inhe was responsible for the child abuse mess and voted on the blood, organ transplant, nuetrality issues which killed many faithful witnesses and left others with serious mental problems.
he was from all accounts rude, arrogant and i believe he would have sacrificed witness children an an altar if he thought it would help the "mother" organisation as he called it.
he is the ultimate brainwashed freak who would step on brothers knecks just to make sure things are "theocratic.

Any one of them dying is a blessed event, even though very little will change. I just wish they could be prosecuted and then summarily executed rather than just die. They've had it too easy on the backs of others.

Watchtower is kicking people out again, in the name of LOVE?
by Bethelite Elder inright now at bethel, they are laying off and reassigning again.
if you have cancer or some other illness, you are a liability and it's time to pack.
i remember the night when we had the special talk about there being a great need in the field and some would be sent out.

Bethelite Elder, I have known enough Bethelites to know how true what you are saying is. All of this speaks to the fact that a corporation and a religion should not be one and the same. Corporations need to do what the WT is currently doing. But WT is not just a corporation. It is a religion that serves to fill emotional needs as well. Needs that now are being sacrificed in those who have served them the hardest. They have created so much pain, even for Bethelites who have the skills to find work, because the economy sucks right now and these good men and women have been out of the working world for their entire adult lives. Further if they have ailments the working world may not be that accomodating either. Most people in this suituation with steady jobs have accumulated sick leave that they can tap into. Not new job seekers. All these are reasons why I have no sympathy for the Governing Body. And the Branch Committees are more pawns for them to hide behind.

I never wish bad on anyone. But the GB are an exception. I hope he dies. The sooner the better. They have caused enough death to others.

Being An Insider as a JW Means.... What?
by AllTimeJeff ini write this partly as a healing post for me, but also one built out of curiosity.... because as we all know, jw's have their own caste system, with the haves and have nots, the good jw's, and those barely hanging on for dear life..... since i have left, i have wondered how i should use my "insider" observations as a gilead grad, missionary, elder, etc.... frankly, for me to go all the way up the ladder is embarrassing for me to consider... what an idiot i was..... yet, for so many who are leaving, they are fascinated by what i got to do.
ditto certain others here.
(i think of randy watters or a@g videos, etc....) frankly, when i read randy's stuff at freeminds.org, i recognized it instantly.

I know what you mean Jeff. I was a jerk until I became an elder. I was self righteous, I bought in totally. My only excuse is that I was a child when it happened. When I became an elder, that's when my humanity surfaced as I saw regular folk struggle to serve the WT. That too was when I felt the overpowering need to make sure that what I was teaching was accurate. The rest is history. But I still cringe when I think of what I was before. I guess that is part of facing reality.

And remember to dubs being baptized into "Jah's org" is necessary for survival. They are being "kind" to these illegals by allowing them the opportunity for everlasting life. Remember too that an illegal is to be encouraged to apply for legal status. I know this is all BS for us who have left but for JW's it makes perfect sense. As it did for many of us when we were in.

No More Work on Saturdays at Bethels Worldwide
by Lost-In-Translation ina letter was read at tonight's meeting announcing that the governing body has decided to stop work on saturdays at all bethels worldwide.
bethel workers are encouraged to now spend saturdays with their local congregation in field service.
the new arrangement goes into effect june, 2009.. what do you think are the motives for such a change?.

Let's not forget the obvious: It's a cost cutting move. I was wondering what took them so long. I guess they finally realized that from a printing standpoint they get more bang out of modern technology and for non-printing operations...well it's an open secret that many Bethelites don't do much on that half day anyway. At least not the ones I knew and worked with.
