Them losing young people is definitely complicated. Everything mentioned here factors in. Something else is the quality of dub is not what it once was. Those young people who stay in aren't necessarily bringing in converts. Many of them are becoming the PT dubs just mentioned. The tree may still be standing but the interior is rotting.

The young ones are leaving in droves!!!
by 1914BS ini hear that many congos are loosing all their young dubs and now only very old dubs are left.
it seems the jws religion is dying out because there are no youngins to replace the aging ms/elder/cos .
the young dubs are very internet savy and would rather play warcraft than go out in the field circus.. i remember a wt study article a couple of years ago that was entitled" when a young person rebels" or something like that - anyone know that mag?.

dobbie, I liked many of them too. I didn't throw out my cds for that reason. Of course this is ALL I was allowed to hear as a kid so there a lot of memories tied to them.

I want to thank you
by Lady Lee infew of my threads get to 3 pages of responses and i suspect that i am the one who pushes it by responding to everyone.
who posts.. but i know people read my posts.. there have certainly been times when i needed the support and got it.
but those times are fewer now.. sometimes i feel like i am repeating myself and i probably am.

Your posts are exactly what this board needs. We need analytical discussion and reminder of the psychology behind this nonsense the WT teaches. It helps us to talk back rationally to it as well. Keep on posting.

JWs and DC discussed on "The View"
by cabasilas ini don't know if this has been mentioned here yet.
i apologize if it has but i haven't seen it here.. jws and the latest district convention ("keep on the watch") was recently mentioned on "the view.
" one of the commentators is a former jw:.

Actually it's nice to see someone who was a JW accurately describe this foolishness, yet be able to joke about it too. Let the WT publicize this nonsense. It will just make them look crazier with each passing PR campaign. They have said for years that they would step up the "warning" part of their preaching work. I hope this is it.

What UNUSUAL MARRIAGES have you seen among JW's?
by BonaFide inthese are couples that i know personally.. a brother i know married a sister 36 years older than him.
he was 35, she was 71. they are still married 5 years later.
they do not get along, and they make that known to the entire hall.. a brother that has been married twice and is 50 years old recently married a 19-year old.

I can think of two. In the first case a brother traveled across several states to marry a girl 15 years younger. It a real mismatch too. But they stay together for "Jehovah" though she nearly committed adultery a few years back.
The second is a young brother who married a girl who was two years OLDER than his mother. We would often joke that he didn't want a wife but a Mom. At the time he was 21.

There is no question that she fell for a lot of harmful vices that the dubs try to keep people away from. Perhaps if she could have gotten the sense of what the dubs were saying in these areas, her life at that time may have been different. But it and she didn't. And that's the point. This is an account of HER life growing up as a dub. It's not good or bad, it just is. And it makes the point that WT is not the perfect organization it pretends to be. It is not as successful as it thinks in helping people out of difficulties. Many times it causes these difficulties. That being said, different people will react differently to it. That's why a wide variety of books and materials are needed so that different sorts of people can relate to leaving the JW's and perhaps leave themselves. Or if they have left, can find comfort in that they are not alone in their feelings and experiences.

Absolutely fantastic. Enjoying work, reenrolled in school for the Fall, getting into local politics, fathering my daughter, hoping to get more into my hobbies by year's end, only thing missing is a good relationship with a lovely lady.

You know this is good PR. And yet it's getting easier and easier to tell dubs that their organization has little to do with "God" and everything to do with 8-10 old men in Brooklyn, NY.

Crazy JW chaperon Stories
by superman inthe jw's must not trust their members or at least don't have too much faith in them when it comes to being alone around member of the opposite sex.
i can remember one time in particular from when i was a teenager that still makes me laugh today.. when i was younger i used to go out in service on a regular basis during the week when i had summer break.
one time when i met for service there were only two other people that showed up.

Boy do these stories bring back memories. My first serious GF and I spent many months in service with my riding in the back seat. OMG, how stupid that seems now. Even when I wasn't chaperoned I was messed up by these insane and unnatural standards.

The new book released at the Convention has a photo of the current GB members
by BonaFide ini will try to scan the photo tomorrow and put it on here.. i read some of the book today, it makes direct connections between the first century and jw's now.. for example:.
the book talks about the apostles and says, 'after jesus death, they took the lead, becoming the governing body of that time.".
congregations of that time - jw congregations today.

Funny they must have gotten tired of us saying how nobody knows who these old crones are that get JW's devotion.
