Who has a blog?
by DT ini've noticed a lot of xjw blogs popping up lately.
i think that is great.
blogging could be the next big phase in combating the influence and propaganda of the watchtower society.

What to do with left over memorial emblems
by Mattieu inwe have an italian cong that shares the hall with 2 english congs.
an elder from the italian cong makes the wine & bread every year for quite a few of the congs in melbourne.. after the last memorial is held in our hall, the wine is taken back to this elders house where certain privileged ones are invited back for some socialising and to drink a very nice drop of red wine!
as well as the usual assortment of cheese platters and crunchy bread.. we were privileged enough to be invited back a few years ago, but the whole idea didnt seem to sit well with me, so we took a raincheck and never got invited back again.

How did Noah even begin to gather examples of microbes?
by Holey_Cheeses*King_of_the juice. innoah - a man ahead of his times.. did he have a superior form of immunity?
oh, that's right, god was directing him.

You know I never gave so much thought to Noah as I have since these threads. They've been a real eye opener. On the honeybees...I guess they didn't hurt people back then.

You're not going to believe this!
by coffee_black inthis article is about a jw who has a face eating tumor.
the pictures are beyond description.
he hasn't had surgery because of the blood thing, but there may be hope in a new procedure.. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/12/03/wface103.xml.

If he is dead we have another victim of JW/WT think no? If this had been operated on early in life, he would have had a better chance.

Latest Witness Rumor
by metatron inapparently, there are new rumors about a brother talking with people at the un about religion.
supposedly, they told him that they want to "turn on religion" by taxing churches.
this is all ok with witnesses because the society is wisely taking ownership of kingdom halls and so they can afford to pay the taxation.. when i heard this explanation, i didn't know whether to puke or laugh out loud.

As VM44 says how it that turning against them. Dubs predict abolishing religion, not taxing it. Anyway the Society doesn't generally own Halls. Those that are mortgaged through WT are liened by the Society. Otherwise the congregations that meet there own the Hall.

by Soledad init was dull.
i could have sworn that i heard the same talk 20 years ago.

Wow Soledad, excellent synopsis. If I were still Christian I would feel pretty much as you do.

What Were Your Consequences For Leaving The "Truth"???
by minimus inwas it as bad as everyone says, that if you leave the organization, you'll go back to the world, get into trouble and suffer?.

Same here as Magwitch. Except no love of my life YET! Otherwise, never been better. Dubs think that all the moral training drains out of your brain once you leave. Not so. I now have the freedom to truly practice moral living. I'm a more compassionate and loving human being. My co-workers often comment on the positive change. It amounts to this, if you are going to be immoral or ruin your life, the dubs can't stop you. They MAY delay it a little is all.

went to see Altar of Mithras today.
by wobble init's funny, but i always felt uncomfortable entering a church when i was a witless, being born in it was programmed into me that this was a place of false religion.. today i went to visit a beautifull church in stone-in-oxney in kent (uk).
this church houses a roman altar that was used in the worship of mithras, before christianity came to england.. in the old days i would have taken this as proof that the church is just an extension of pagandom etc.
etc.. but today i was pleased to see the artifact safely housed,to appreciate the beautifull building within which it sits, and to feel some 2000 years of man trying to get closer to god.. the altar,or "stone" which gives the place its name is unique, and only in the church to keep it safe, not least from the vagaries of english weather!.

I hear you. I was in Spain in February and loved the mosques and churches. They are part of our history and therefore valuable.

The Official What happened at the Memorial thread
by truthseeker ini thought rather than everyone start their own topic relating their experience of attending the memorial, we keep it simple and have just one thread.
if anything, it's saves bandwidth.. i will be going to the memorial tonight and will post my experiences afterwards.. all the other memorials i attended, i was an active jw, so this will be my first experience as a submarine witness.
it's weird being on the other side so to speak.

I seem to remember that in my last years as a dub, an announcement from the GB would be read. In fact I think I got to read one at my last Memorial which I reluctantly presided over.
I was SOOOO happy last night to not have to consider attending. I hope never to go to one of those crazy non-celebrations again. I got some real spiritual nourishment at home relaxing, watching CSI, and enjoying a home cooked meal. At first I thought about passing by the Hall to see old friends going in and out. Then I thought, why lose a good parking spot! Anyway, that's my .02
