  i had a huge light bulb on moment as i wasy in therapy dealing with a nasty anxiety disorder for many years and having a huge trigger in my life finally silenced.

  it was almost the last thing that i thought i would end up doing expecially if you asked my wife and myself even a year before our decision to " live " thats how i view it not decision to leave...........it was a decision to live.. .

  my therapist psychiatrist asked me who are you?

  not sure if this was the case elsewhere, but i noticed that the contribution boxes with the people attending them stayed out in the hall ways throughout the entire session.

  they used to be set up only before and after sessions and during lunch......times are tough!

  So a JW service for someone disassociated. I know there are loopholes that allow this. And I'm happy the Jackson's got what they wanted, even if that silly Paradise is nothing but a pipe dream. What is sad is that so few non-celebrity JW's are allowed to use said loopholes by the self serving WTBT$.

  Some creature who refuses to answer when intelligent beings such as myself, capable of understanding things beyond what the eye can see, have made repeated attempts at communicating, does not deserve my time and effort at contacting he/she or it. If he/she or it even exists. The guessing game is disrespectful and a waste of valuable resources.

  mrs. flipper was raised catholic and got out when she was 12 because the nuns and cathlolic school teachers didn't like her independent thinking mind.

  Age alone is not the measure of maturity The Gazette Friday, July 03, 2009 The Supreme Court of Canada has granted adolescents a say in serious medical decisions that affect them - provided they demonstrate the necessary level of maturity. The judgment, in a decision announced last week, is part of a trend in Canada: The state is agreeing to allow adolescents greater personal responsibility, under carefully-circumscribed conditions.The 2003 Youth Criminal Justice Act signalled Parliament's desire to treat teens as individuals in criminal matters, assessing ability to assume responsibility on a case-by-case basis. This new ruling extends the principle to medical treatment. Until this Supreme Court decision, the level of maturity required for medical treatment decisions had been determined by age alone - an admittedly arbitrary measure made worse because it varied from province to province. Quebec's age of consent was 14; Saskatchewan's was 18. The Supreme Court decision means that age alone can no longer be used as a cutoff. Instead, judges must now weigh age and maturity "on a sliding scale," setting them against the seriousness of the threat to the youngster's health and well-being. Making these assessments will not be simple, but the principle is sound. In 2006, a 14-year-old Manitoba girl, a Jehovah's Witness, argued that she was competent to refuse a court-ordered blood transfusion that doctors had determined was necessary to treat bleeding associated with Crohn's disease. (Jehovah's Witnesses believe the Bible bans the "ingestion" of blood.) Three psychiatrists found she was not mentally ill, nor in thrall to her parents. Yet because 16 was the age of consent to medical treatment in Manitoba, the government was able to order her to accept transfusions. The Supreme Court held that when an adolescent is found capable of making a "truly mature and independent decision," the young person can be allowed to make even a decision with potentially very serious consequences. At the same time, the court said the state has an undeniable duty of care toward youngsters and must recognize that there are limits to their developing maturity. The ruling properly takes a nuanced approach to the rights and responsibilities of young Canadians. It is wrong, on the basis of age alone, to deny a young person any say in what happens to him or her. Maturity can develop early - or late - in adolescence. This Supreme Court decision is a new step along the way to conferring on mature teenagers the right to exercise informed choice. It is a step in the right direction. © The Gazette (Montreal) 2009

  Could Watchtower Collapse Be Sooner Than You Think?

  there have been a number of developments over the past few months and they paint an interesting picture.. witnesses can keep dragging themselves to meetings ad infinitum however, the future of the watchtower itself is another story.

  the evidence of continuing cash flow problems is now overwhelming.

  if you talk to well placed witnesses, most won't deny it but simply blame it on the publishers financial problems.. they have cut off loans to congregations many of whom genuinely need new kingdom halls.

  You make some excellent points Metatron. I also have felt that their focus on the foreign field would hurt them in the end. Focusing on poor countries does not bring in any real money. And WT is not a legitimate charity in the way most churches are. They get money from their people for the most part. So where will the donations come from. They are surviving now in large part through investments. I have a feeling it will be a slow fall, but faster than we ever thought possible say 15-20 years ago.

  Lost-In-Translation, your post makes me think I wasted a lot of time when I was magazine servant! They should have done this A LOT sooner. I always knew JW's to have stacks of "old magazines" lying around. Until that is they made it okay to place them as back issues. The stacks still seemed to pile up though until someone would say: "Hey let's take these and do laundromat witnessing!"

  i have a few that i remember that were interesting.

  of course, those that i supposedly helped.. but i also remember one man at an apartment.

  i started to talk about the universe, and how the planets are aligned perfectly, and the earth is the perfect distance from the sun to support life.
