Im so proud to be a member of JWD!
EXJWs are such caring people!!
The best are obviously leaving the org!
If any remaining are of honest hearts they will join us!
Im kidding of course. That aint gonna happen soon Im sure.
But we do value life, first of all OUR OWN!!!! AND WE GOT OUT OF THAT DAMN CULT
AS SOON AS WE SAW IT FOR WHAT IT IS!
Im very sorry for their families. Now they will struggle harder without their fathers and husbands and sons.
No help from the Wacktower financially for the bereaved families Im sure!

"Kiss the Son lest God be angry, and you perish in the way!"
"Happy are all they that put their trust in God today!"
Oh brother! More like "put their FEAR in God" today!
It sounds so ABUSIVE! KISS MY SON OR DIE!
It feels so good today to be free not to have to say and promote ideas I dont believe
What a prison it all was!!!!

Hi BigBloomerz! Welcome! I think your biggest worry is to lose your mom forever, right?
Hey alot of us here think the JWs do not have all the answers and are not the sole custodians of Gods word.
You need to explore what others say about the dead and the hope and you will begin to feel better about seeing your mom again despite marrying your new love.
Grab true love when you can find it is my advice AND DONT LET GO! -

If You've Been Abused in a Bad Marriage or Relationship You Can Leave
by flipper inhello people, as some of you may know, i have been married to mrs. flipper for almost a year now.
life is great, we both have never been happier!
but i know it's not like that for some of you, believe me, been there , done that at another time and place.

My first marriage was really a hard one. Lots of challenging situations there. I beat myself up for years over leaving it.
But truthfully, religion aside, we both are much happier now. I went to visit him six months ago and he was very happy. He showed me all the improvements made to the house and recent pics of the witness family and the nieces and nephs. I came away with the view that all was well and that everything was back to peace.
I really dont believe I will suffer any eternal torment for leaving my marriage.
In fact I may have saved a life by doing so. YEAH HIS!
In retrospect I should be sainted!

Dear Blondie, I feel sick to think that you are not well.
I fear losing you from this board.
I have not learned all my lessons from you yet....
To stand up boldly against lies, manipulation and entrapment by individuals or entities.
To speak out my doubts and concerns when others speak nonsense or illogic.
To soothe and calm and nurture those who are honest and truly seeking wisdom and truth.
I have never met a woman like you before Blondie. But now I will look for her everywhere.
Hope you feel better soon,
Affectionately,
One of your many "Little Grasshoppers",

was there a 1975 "scare"
by Lotus65 inive heard through different research ive done along with people ive talked too that there was a 1975 "scare" in which the time was supposed and the end was at hand
is that true

As I recall the expected doom was to begin in the fall of the year, around October.
It is true that no statement from a Watchtower actually said "Armageddon will begin on such and such date,1975" but there was no curtailing the hundreds of comments during Watchtower Studies and Book Studies from the old timers as we called them who grabbed whole segments of time in those days to answer questions, taking five minutes sometimes to share their belief in Armageddon's closeness. As a people we endured a real hysteria among the rank and file with demonstrations from the platforms in the forms of mini-dramas depicting the suffering and imprisonment Jehovahs people will likely face just before the big A.
It was overwhelming to a new one like myself who sat there hearing comment after comment from these respected people, elders, old timers, pioneers, my study conductor that time was running out for those who sat on the spiritual fence.
I was baptized in 1973 mostly at the insistence of my pioneering friend who was sincerely afraid Armageddon would find me unbaptized and unprotected. I mean, as she put it, how could the angels tell me from a worldly person if I did not have the mark? Baptism would put that mark on me. And going out in service telling the good news would keep it there. She pressured so many people to get baptized in those years. But after '75 she went looney and left the area.
But yeah it definitely is true that the headquarters allowed so many to speculate and if they corrected them during assemblies and conventions I dont recall it.

Ditto what Hermano said!
Love your post!
It put me right back in that nauseating meeting. (And to think I used to love those meetings when I believed. But when I was on to the control techniques used, I came to resent everything.)

Anyone else setting up the Christmas tree or thinking of it already?
by WTWizard inbeing that i like the looks of the christmas lights and that i have had 20 years of not being able to set them up, i have already taken the step of setting up the christmas tree.
on it are huge amounts of lights--12 sets of c6 led bulbs (they come 60 to a set) plus a set of 70 miniature leds for the top region.
i ran out of c6 bulbs about halfway up the tree (not to worry, i have the other 6 sets on order and they should be arriving today).. there are some things to think about when setting up a holiday tree out of "season".

Ive been out six years now. I remember the summer I too jumped the gun and put up a "Christmas in July"
tree. Everyone was very kind to me about it and said they understood. My husband and mother in law have been very patient while I worked out all the kinks and bugs and angst and anger from being in the borg for over 35 years. I had my tree up for a couple of months until way into September when I noticed it beginning to get rather dusty. How do you clean a dusty Christmas tree and ornaments I wondered? Horrors!
I blew it off with an air compressor and put it away until the proper season.
Ive only done that once. Then last summer I attended a moving sale where the householder was practically giving away a ton of expensive Christmas stuff. I loaded up my car with everything they were giving away.
So last Christmas I went whole hog on the decorations. When I finished, my house looked like an obscene Santa's Grotto on steroids! Rather overdone as I look back. But to me it was fantastic! Too bad our only guest for Christmas was my MIL who ate some salmonella-filled party leftovers the day before and spent the entire Christmas day on my couch barfing into a grocery bag. Wonderful.
When she left I felt disgusted with Christmas and felt I was a fool to fuss over it so much. Religion!!!
This Christmas is going to be interesting as I do not know where I will be December 25th. My husband and I are renting a room in a house that is being sold this summer. Our stuff is in storage.
I have wondered what our Christmas will be like this year. It probably wont be Santa's Grotto this year.
Maybe this year Christmas will be enjoying a meal in a Denny's looking out an artificially frosted restaurant window. I dont know.
But I do look forward to it with anticipation nonetheless. It is a lovely holiday during the cold winter months. -

Love your neighbor as yourself
by lawrence inhow can a christian love their neighbor as themself, if they don't love themselves?
if a christian hates himself, how can he love his neighbor?
if a christian treats himself poorly, how can he treat his neighbor well?
-
anewme
We must love our neighbor as ourself.
It is a command.
We must be kind to ourselves, caring, generous, forgiving, uncritical, patient and loving.
Just the opposite of the military style lives we led as witnesses. "Suck it up soldier! Get out there and save the lost people of the world!" "Too tired on a Saturday morning? What are you, a pansy? Get up! Get up!"
Never mind that your wife and kids are begging for a fun weekend and that its been years since you took a vacation. Serve the Almighty Borg! Serve Serve Serve until you are mumbling crying and bleeding and probably God will put you to death anyway because you are worthless to the core!
The whole Witness thing is about obedience to the governing body in Brooklyn, obedience until you die.
There is no mention of loving yourself in that org at all.
If you are having problems, you dont love the borg enough. Do more for the borg and you will feel better is the advice. If your family is having problems, do more for the borg. If your wife complains she is unhappy, tell her to read more and do more for the borg, to immerse herself in the borg. If your teens complain they are not busy enough in borg activity.
No ones private needs are important. Only the governing body and its needs are important.
I could go on but I am making myself sick.
Good topic Lawrence,

I too think you should just forget it. They are over it for sure.
But its true, working with the public as you do you must be careful.
When we screw up unintentionally we should forgive ourselves easily just as we would forgive someone else.
