  i'm kinda looking for other born again christians that were "brainwashed" the way i was with the jw's!.

  Enigma, that sounds a little "out there" shall we say?
  That said, I wish I could come up with some absurd book and title and publish it and make a ton of money!
  I just got from the library yesterday " The Writer's Guide To Fantasy Literature; How To Write Fantasy Stories Of Lasting Value" by Philip Martin
  I thought what the heck, I'm not a witness anymore, who cares what garbage I write?
  There's got to be a million people out there who would believe any fantasy!
  Am I right?

  WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE HUMAN RACE?!

  i watched dr. phil yesterday, where they were highlighting the disappearance of natalee holloway who disappeared in aruba over 5 months ago, and amy bradley who vanished from a cruise ship 7 years ago.

  i always assumed that these girls were raped and then murdered and they very likely could be, but the program highlighted the sex-slave trade that is growing in leaps and bounds all over the world.

  i sat there and listened in shock as one guy revealed what happens to some of these girls during snuff movies.

  Mouthy, horrible horrible horrible!!!
  What would you do if you were stuck in a small town with small minded neighbors with smaller hearts??!!
  
  Never must we allow ANYONE to badger us or make us feel less than or corner us into a defenseless position!
  
  I watched an English movie about a woman who is nearly murdered, but who then goes after her would be assassin!
  
  I was so impressed by her "balls"! (Can I say balls?)
  
  Women and men need to know the truth about the crime out there and prepare their minds and lives to keep it away from them.

  First off, welcome Biddy. Welcome to the forum.
  
  Second, I cant believe I never became a Jesus freak. It seems like the natural thing for me to do, given that I was such a good little girl and a Polly Anna (I believed everyone was basically good and that things will always work out fine you'll see) and a daddy's girl and believed in the United States and the Bible.
  
  But no. Didn't. No calling to it. And still no interest.

  Anybody here who still has faith in God and belief in the Bible?

  there seems to be a lot of folks here who are bitter and want nothing to do with organized religion (understandable!

  ) or the belief in a god who cares about us, and has a "plan".or even anyone who has actually read and studied the bible, and understands what's going on it it.

  so many just take stuff out of context looking for "mistakes" and loopholes.

  You know, IC said something profound.
  
  We all need to know this stuff exists. Yes, we do! If only to protect ourselves from some unfortunate encounter with one of these predators.
  
  Just yesterday my newly fixed car and I got out on the lonely road together. It has been 2 weeks since I had my vehicle. I drive 17 deserted miles to town. There are no people and no homes along the resevoir path I must take.
  
  I reached over to my purse on the passenger seat. I felt in the side pocket. There it was, my new defense weapon......a small slim screwdriver that fits in my hand very securely.
  
  Now I am no Natalie Holloway, I think I would no longer qualify for a career in prostitution, but there is nothing stopping some sick person from harming me for fun and throwing my lifeless body in the resevoir.
  
  Men, women, mothers, fathers all need to be on guard to protect the life of your loved ones from strangers.
  
  I have always held a Polly Anna attitude. I gave it up after getting dfd. Now I want to know what is going on. I want to know what is real.
  When I left the witnesses and the safer confines of the witness community I was at the mercy of very worldly individuals who took advantage of my naivety and stupidity.
  It was a painful growth process. I cherished my long held beliefs that people were basically good and meant well. Through many tears and scream filled nights, wailing for what was, and for what I thought was, I gave it up. And stopped crying.
  I no longer believe that everyone is basically good. Actually just the opposite. If given the chance people will hurt you, rob you, rape you, cheat you, lie to you. People must prove what they are to me now.
  I hold everyone in suspicion now until proven to be a friend with values.
  
  I feel much stronger and better prepared to face evil in the future.

  firstly, it is not my intention here to offend anyone so if you are likely to get upset at reading 'blasphemous' statements or criticism of jesus then perhaps you should go to another topic.

  also, i am not in the habit of making personal attacks on other posters, if you decide to stay and read this - don't attack me!

  by all means rip my post to pieces and explain where i got it all wrong, but don't shoot the messenger.. and remember, i come from the same place as most of you, i was one of jehovah's witnesses for over thirty years.

  Last night on the telly was a discussion of John Lennon. Our dear John came to a similar conclusion as our dear Nicolaou here. For expressing his views, which I assume are shared by millions of brilliant free thinkers he was targeted and gunned down. Who knows what the world lost at that moment? Someone to break through the stoggy long held belief systems that keep the world in its strife and war torn grip? We need these outspoken ones who use calm reason and logic instead of emotionally charged vengeful religious minds to conduct worldwide business here on the earth in the future.
  
  I say let him explore this line of thinking. Allow Nicolaou to continue to speak freely.

  Hi Defd! Hey how are you? I left for the day (hubby fixed my car!!!!)
  Made a donation to the Good Will and came home with 4 gorgeous dining chairs!
  I spent the afternoon cleaning them and taking off scratches and varnishing them with dark stain minwax.
  These are the chairs of my dreams!
  So this evening I know what I will be doing......playing with my new chairs and making the house pretty.
  
  I will try to get up during the night while you are doing the night shift to say hello.
  
  Is that next week?

  msmcduket, i seem to have forgotten that there is a life outside of jwd.

  i lost my job last christmas, so i lost my housekeeper.

  HL I thought of you all day and I envied you!!!
  I love getting rid of unwanted stuff! The results are fabulous afterwards as you put your house back together again minus the crud! And the money is nice too!
  
  Where I live now is a canyon paradise but no garage sales exist out in these boonies.
  
  When I part with something it must go to town to the local thrift store.
  
  I donate about once a month. I fill my trunk with donations and make the trip. When its gone it feels so good! And donating is like finding it another home!
  
  Good luck on your sale tomorrow. Remember to keep it happy and fun!
