  hi everyone, and thanks for all your sweet messages.

  it's been a long time since i posted on here, almost 3 months i think, but i know that trev has been keeping you all updated about me, as well as printing your good wishes for me.

  i don't want to dwell on my situation, but want to say how happy i am to be posting again.

  Hi! It's really good to see you posting again, I missed you while you were gone.
  I was just looking at the drawing Purps did for you both last night but I didn't have a chance to comment. It's good to see you're up posting- that's a good way to keep your mind off everything you're going through these days. Your a sweetheart and very loved by all here.

  I took out my wallet, got out ten dollars and asked, "If I give you this money,
  
  will you buy some wine with it instead of dinner?"
  
  "No, I had to stop drinking years ago", the homeless woman told me.
  
  "Will you use it to go shopping instead of buying food?" I asked.
  
  "No, I don't waste time shopping," the homeless woman said. "I need to
  
  spend all my time trying to stay alive."
  
  "Will you spend this on a beauty salon instead of food?" I asked.
  
  "Are you NUTS!" replied the homeless woman. "I haven't had my hair
  
  done in 20 years!"
  
  "Well," I said, "I'm not going to give you the money. Instead, I'm
  
  going to take you out for dinner with my husband and me tonight."
  
  The homeless woman was shocked. "Won't your husband be furious with
  
  you for doing that? I know I'm dirty, and I probably smell pretty disgusting."
  
  
  I said, "That's okay. It's important for him to see what a woman looks
  
  like after she has given up shopping, hair appointments, and wine."

  here is some fine iowa farm fed pork for you after about 12 - 14 hours in my smoker.

  had the non jw family over and a few friends, ending up having about 15 lbs of pulled pork.

  Yeah, I can bake too... Usually I do sweet potato pie, with BBQ. I love cooking for others.

  My husband and I delivered our DA letter last night. . .

  that is, letter of disassociation and denunciation, i like that word.

  .in person in the door of one of our ex-elders and via email to him and a few others.

  there was an added level of peace in doing that, which neither of us expected.

  Easy to let go

  i have recently reaquainted with an old school friend of mine and her wife.

  everytime we get together, there is drama of some sort, usually harmless.

  this past saturday they had a kegger.

  I realize that since leaving my religion of 25 years and leaving my parents behind that I can pretty much toss anyone aside without thinking twice about it. It is easy to let go. I also realize that if I keep it up I will be left alone with no friends. I am quite flippant towards relationships now

  
  I can relate to how you feel, I struggle with the same things (although there are a few close friends I've had awhile since leaving). I have a bad habbit also of not wanting people to get close to me and I'll shut them out after awhile. I've been that way in romantic relationships as well, because it's also easier to shut everyone out before they can do it to you.
  As far as the situation with your friends and their "drama" all the time, I think that makes sense to not want to be around that. I have "friends" like that too, they have some sort of huge fight every time they come over and it just gets old. I haven't done anything with them in awhile because frankly I just don't have the time or energy for that garbage, I hate when people put you in the middle of thier conflicts. I'd rather not have friends than have those kinds of friends.

  Recommend a car

  i hate cars.

  they just cost money and eventually rust away.. however, given that it's pretty difficult to do anything without one in north america and that we now need another because angharad got a job (yay), does anyone have any good suggestions?.

  I just bought a Toyota Prius hybrid. It gets up to 60 MPG in town and I just filled up the tank for the first time it was like $27 (I had an SUV before this and filling the tank was painful every time)
  So far I love it, in the long run it should save me a lot of money that I've been flushing away at the gas station (with that other vehicle I had). If I had known how much I'd like it, I would have gotten it much sooner.

  Favourite foreign languages?

  what foreign language or languages do you enjoy most listening to, though you may not be able to understand the words?

  i find several foreign languages pleasant to listen to, french with its refinement, italian with its sing song musical quality, and german with its coarse but resolute intonation.

  i also like the sound of russian and castillian spanish.
