this was basically my second year out of the organization - we mark our leaving january 2004. i came across this site and began posting here one year ago today.

i have found many here to be truly a blessing from god - no matter your individual views of him.
I may accidently aid in that from time to time.
There is no accident to kindness Jeff. Really, there are times that I've put myself out there and been completely vulnerable and raw. The posts that you've made in response made me feel not alone and just a little closer to human. If you don't stop short changing yourself, I'll beat you severely.
i would like to find former jws in my immediate area.
i have done a search on-line, but no luck.
i would like to find them without drawing attention to myself from those still in the jws, since i have close friends and family in the wt.

my wife went to a meeting today and a funny thing happened.
the public speaker from out of town did not show up!
so instead of ad-libbing for an hour they just ended the meeting an hour early!
Kinda makes you go hmmmm when all members of the congregation are happy that the meetings let out early. I was always happy for conventions because there would be no TMS. Then, I'd find some "privelege" to occupy my time on the weekend. Overnight security was the best job ever. We just played football in the corridors all night and ate Chicago style pizza. Then I'd sleep in my hotel room until noon.
i pulled that from another topic because it reminded me of something my mother said to me just before i married my husband.
first let me say that my mother doesnt like my husband.
her dislike for my husband has tempered over the years but it's still there.
I trump! I was dating a sister whose mother I became uncomfortably close to. Marriage was of course the plan. She would tell me about when she and her daughter went lingerie shopping and how wonderfully surprised I'd be. I kissed her daughter (defiled her as it were). She was in the same room watching TV but apparently didn't notice. uhuh sure. I believe that one. She was getting her jolly's from it. I got this lecture from her via her husband that that was the sort of kissing that her daughter was to enjoy on her wedding night. UM, okay?! She told me about her non existent sex life with her husband (did I want to know that, hell NO!!) Nasty all around. My grandmother said she was psycho and told me to get ghost from her because apples don't fall far from the tree. I gotta write a topic on this family.

I always enjoy reading the things you post Jeff. You've been a salve to me while my wounds have been fresh. I can relate to the various stages and like you now view my former life as having been under the control of a cult. Truly sobering realization. Keep posting cuz we're reading, keep growing cuz its magnificent to watch, keep pushing forward cuz backward is the crap that we've already sludged through.

i'm shattered after work, i've been working at uni practically non stop through the week (with the exception of a couple of visits to the pub), and i worked 5-10 last night, and 9-6 today, i'm such a weak person.

Get rich or die trying is a great movie lola. It's a bit violent in parts but there was never a point that the violence was for no reason. Truly I was surprised at how good a film it was.

Its a mental framing Carla. Simply put, brainwashing. These are the things that witnesses say to each other. Fine effort, happy, good example, crap like that. The admiration of zeal is simply a camaraderie of brainwashing. Its as if the speaking party is self inoculating from thinking. Zeal, yeah. Zeal. The focus for that one moment is not on thinking but on "That person wouldn't be zealous if this wasn't a worthwhile endeavor." That's all it is.
